Re: Flex Fuel vehicles- the preferred BOV

I thought E85 type fuels was heavily subsidized by the Brazilian government, making it way cheaper than regular gasoline. The perceived price difference was one of the reasons for the push to E85 up here in the states, but in reality E85 is only a few dimes cheaper than the normal pump gas, and far ...

RATS!

The neighbor decided it was time to harvest the timber from his 20 acre plot, and it has scared some of the critters down our way. My dad stores the dog food in a plastic 50 gallon drum in the woodshed, and noticed something was knocking the lid off, so he started tightening it down harder. Over the...

Re: Bug out school bus questions

Convert a SCHOOL BUS to 4WD? I think those parts would be hard to find unless you have access to some old Military or Forest Service trucks.. and if you have access to them, why bother converting the bus to a 4wd when you can convert the military vehicle to what you need? Overall a bus would make a ...

Re: Honey In your B.O.B

Once you open this container to eat the 2.2 pounds in the 3 days, it will likely get sticky and make a mess. That would be my main problem with the honey. I have some honey in my pack, 6oz, packed in 3 2oz nearly crushproof containers. Once you open one tho, it is likely to leak one way or another....

Re: Kitty Litter

We use wood fuel pellets. They're sold in forty pound bags to burn in pellet-burning wood stoves for six to eight dollars a bag. It doesn't clump much, but it's almost dust free, and it goes into the compost when we change the box. you compost your cat poop? My wife and I have two cats. One uses a ...

Re: Can a zombie be physically stronger than a fit human?

In most of the zombie flicks, it is easy for the average human being to fight off a single zed... the problem comes when you get attacked from all sides by the zeds and start to tire out after a couple of fights.

Re: Have to bug out by foot to a place yet unknown

Sure a couple roads may be out due to mother nature such as floods, earthquake, or deep snow, but I don't believe in the whole fantasy portrayed in the movies for my AO (where I live, we don't get hurricanes or tornadoes that cause widespread disaster). A quarter tank can usually get me where I need...

When did Washington start doing state background checks on gun purchases? I thought they just did it through NICS. Ditto on putting down your SSN# - you don't want to be confused with someone else. There is a waiting period if you don't have a CPL. To get your CPL, the Sheriff has to do his own back...

I don't understand why I am bugging out to a place unknown... if I am bugging out I have these places called "Bug Out Locations" that I would head toward. That said humans need only 150 micrograms (about 1/20,000th of a teaspoon) iodine daily. This level can be obtained by eating a variety of foods. The problem is that humans do not store iodine so a littel must be ingested daily. http://www.healthaliciousness.com/articles/natural-foods-high-in-iodin...

I don't get the need to go through some elaborate steps just to hide it in plain sight, when there are so many ways to hide it out of sight with far less effort. As someone mentioned, it would be easy for some burglar to just smash your bottle to bits and that would make it even harder to recover. O...
