I looked at her profile last night and it said that she has not even logged in since November. I fear.

Re: **Read this before anything else in the First Aid sectio

Yea, I have seen Doctors/paramedics/EMTs/and Medics that I would want around if I needed help, then again I have seen a lot of each that I would not. In my experience the EMTs seem to think they are "trauma Gods" more often than the other groups. I figure I can hold my own, I have seen more knowledg...

Re: Gas Mask for smoke?

The mask will work for filtering out the nasty stuff, just be sure you have PARTICULATE filters. CO and low O2, not so much. They work great on CS (Chemical Smoke or tear gas) as well. What a lot of people don't realize is that there are 3 basic types of filters and you need the correct one. That is...

Re: CPR/First aid training.

I have been teaching for the Heart Assn for a long time. The CPR classes are OK, they do teach what you need, the HCP class when it is an active provider that actually does CPR regularly, not so much, but it is required. As for the First Aid class, I feel like I am shorting the class every time I te...

meanstreak, try using a 12v deep cycle gell cell battery. These are designed to put out a constant 12 volts at 40 amps for a given hour range, usually 7 to 75 hours. You can get these at any place that sells power wheel chairs and scooters. A car battery would not have lasted very long. They are de...

Re: Is Blood-Sugar Equipment A Waste Of Time?

In a word, yes. Unless you have insulin, if they are altered, give them sugar. If they are low, it will bring them up, if they are too high, you can't fix that anyway. You don't really need to know if it is high or low. We did that for decades as Paramedics until the glucometers became small enough ...

Re: **Read this before anything else in the First Aid sectio

I have a suggestion maybe when people post their FAK they also should post their level of training. I feel it would help in advising people what they should and should not have in their first aid kit. I think some people see certain things in others pack and think they need to get them when they re...

Re: Mom's Journal of the Zombie Years

I am just pointing out how much we appreciate what she does. And I really believe if when done she did publish a few of them, she might have less to worry about as far as work goes. That's all. I'm sure she doesn't want deadlines to deal with, but once they are already done, the publisher does most ...

Bummer. She should just finish it and put it out as an E book. Maybe making a few dollars from it would help things with her. I really haven't been looking in a while, so I am not up to speed with her troubles since the computer wipe. I figure it is her business, and I can't complain for a free stor...

Re: Mom's Journal of the Zombie Years

No, she gave us that teaser on time telling us of the "after" years, and think about the title. It implies that it is a "historical" accounting of "past" events. I hate waiting, but I believe there is MOAR to the story. Hopefully it comes back together soon. Just think, once it does, being so fresh ...
