Re: My Job, My Hell...

Speaking of getting mouthy with cops, I'm reminded of an incident that happened at the first and only rodeo I've ever been to. Which now that I think about it, was almost 30 years ago. The short story is my dad got drunk, decided to get into an argument with my mother as we're leaving the rodeo aren...

Re: My Job, My Hell...

Let's just say that the The Democratic Justice Party (DJP) was not democratic or had much of any justice to it, which led to the June Struggle some years later. It always amazed me to watch Americans get caught up in some kind of mess that involved another nations police force. You think LEOs are b...

Re: Arson/Attacks/Vandalism in Houses of Worship - 2020

Wasn't there a big thing about church burnings like this back in the 1990s in Sweden or Norway ? I seem to recall MTV reporting on a couple churches in Norway being burnt or vandalized by fans of a certain couple of death metal bands. I really don't remember much about the actual stories considerin...

Re: Firearms CHAT: [insert chat title here]

That'd be awesome to own since "The Outlaw Josey Wales" is one of my favorite Clint Eastwood movies, [...] Have you seen the making of yet? Stay to the end, Clint talks about the nuances of chaw in film making. SPOILER ALERT: https://youtu.be/SyFRzXqON2Q I don't think I have seen that one, but I ha...

Re: What have you bought in the last 48 hours?(firearms related)

Ok, so it's been longer than 48 hours, but I purchased a Ruger Mk IV 22/45 Tactical a couple weeks ago. It's been on my list for awhile and I wanted to upgrade from a Mk. III 22/45 to the Mk. IV model since they're much easier to field strip for cleaning and maintenance. Unlike the Mk. III models. ...

Re: Firearms CHAT: [insert chat title here]

Those Cimarron pistols are on my list, Rick. I like the one they did of the revolver Val Kilmer used as "Doc Holliday" in "Tombstone" as well. I have a sort of love/hate relationship with cowboy movies since my childhood and there's a select few that I'll willingly watch. I don't mind John Wayne mov...

Re: Firearms CHAT: [insert chat title here]

I just took a look at my Mk IV 22/45 and Ruger might be able to make a .22 magnum version if they delete the spring assist for the magazine. That way they could extend the magazine itself enough to fit the longer .22 magnum cartridge and still use the same sized frame. They'd probably be only able t...

Re: Firearms CHAT: [insert chat title here]

I've got exactly zero experience with a .22 magnum gun, be it pistol or rifle.

I came close to trading for a KelTec PMR30 a few years ago, but decided against it. Mostly because I think it may have been an early model and from what I know of the early ones, those were the models that had issues.

Re: Firearms CHAT: [insert chat title here]

Speaking of lever actions, Ruger also made a lever action .22 magnum that I think used 10/22 type mags. I think it was the 96/22M. I know they made a .17HMR 10/22, but had to stop and recall all the guns because the receivers were cracking. They also made a .22 magnum 10/22, but I forget why they s...

Re: Firearms CHAT: [insert chat title here]

Man, I wish they still made the 96/44. Used prices on them are silly. Give Ruger a couple years and they'll bring out a new version like they did with the PC carbine. Didn't Ruger used to make a semi-auto .44 mag carbine ? The Deerfield I think is what it was called. They did. The Model 44 chambere...

Where's Wee Drop O'Bush when you need her ? This thread sounds like something that'd be in her wheelhouse and maybe she could give us a bit of info on what others in her AO use as alternatives to dogs for herding livestock. Toddlers. There's a reason farm families had tons of kids. Met a few ...

Re: Coin shortage?

I went to Walmart this morning. They no longer accept cash through the self-checkouts. You have to go to a register to pay with cash. I guess that ends my getting anything groceries there, as we always use cash for groceries so I don't go over budget too much. I know a lot of people do the "cash in...

Re: Firearms CHAT: [insert chat title here]

If Ruger were to bring back the Deerfield (or Deer Slayer or whatever it was called), I'd buy one. I've only seen one example in a shop out here and it was nice. Kind of beat up, but in otherwise good shape. Must've been a truck gun for some old rancher. I thought about buying it, but I was more int...

Re: Coin shortage?

On the subject of electronic currency, I'm reminded that my grandma way back in the 1960s accurately predicted the rise of credit cards. Grandma also had a prediction about folks being forced to have a special card just to be able to buy food and other necessities. Her thinking was no card = no food...

Re: The New & Improved, "What have you done to your AR today" thread

Installed the new bolt latch. I rather like this one from Strike Industries. Nice, wide, serrated pad for setting the catch to hold the bolt open, vs that tiny little point on the stock latch. I also replaced the firing pin retainer with a Perma Pin from KNS Precision last week and forgot to mentio...

Re: English martial arts

I'd like to learn more about how the Vikings fought since I've been watching a lot of the "Vikings" TV series on History Channel. I'm pretty sure they're taking some liberties with the fighting on the show, but it still looks neat and I'm a big fan of Viking history. Also, I've been interested in h...
