Re: Cleaning multitools
I clean mine either in a $30 Harbor Freight ultrasonic cleaner, or with a gun cleaning brush and a spray can of brake cleaner. I've seen that one a few times at HF. Do you think it's a good unit? No its a piece of shit. I bought two of them and one broke. And even when working its not nearly powerf...

Re: Cleaning multitools
Toothbrush and BreakFree CLP OR toothbrush and DuPont teflon/silicone spray. Blow excess lube out with canned air, and wipe the outside handle scales with alcohol so the lube doesn't make the tool slippery in your hand. I never had to disassemble my Wave to clean it, (carried it 15 years, finally re...

Re: rethinking my EDC
With the wave of arrests recently at several Batman showings im rethinking my EDC. Some were evening holding a valid CC license but were still arrested. Another was singled out because he was carrying a Maxpedition fat boy. Im in South East Texas and it gets pretty hot and humid so during the summe...

Re: What are your top zombie apocalypse survival strategies?
my only question to you, swordofthebreeze, is will you have people patrolling the beaches of your island, beause as weve seen in many undead stories is that the zombies may not be able to swim but since theyre dead already they can just walk along the bottom of the river... I love your idea i would...

Re: Combat tactics 101: Melee weapon choice
Light weight aluminium batons. These weapons are my weapon of choice for CQC with a zombie. The aluiminum make allows for light weight and quick movement while makeing it string enough to resist denting and breaking. The shape allows for swift, blunt blows that could easily damage the brain knock t...

Re: Awkard moments or negative responses while using your ED
For stuff like package tape and shrink wrap, I long ago took to carrying a smaller, more accessible and less threatening blade. A 1" lockback, a cold steel mini-pal, a bottle opener/prybar combo with an exacto blade - all seem a bit less weapony than a tactical folder or full size multitool, and do ...

Re: A Cape Scenario 1: The Movie Theater and other
It now seems the person he sent his notebook outlining his intended killings was also his on campus psychiatrist. Whom he had been seeing professionally for a few months at least. And as a PHD student he was in part an employee of the university, sort of. He was expected to help his professors in t...

Re: A Cape Scenario 1: The Movie Theater and other
I know I can't make a 165 yard shot with a .357. But I've made plenty of 25 yard shots with a .357. And sometimes mass shooters get a lot closer to their victims than that. If armed, I may or may not choose to engage. It would depend on what other survival strategies seemed available, whether or not...

I don't believe in the death penalty period, and I agree that it would be more useful to keep this guy locked up and find out what makes him tick. As for learning "flags" though - I do fear that in reaction to this shooting, especially if the school is found liable, there will be a lot of false posi...

Re: Ruger Mini-14 Target Rifle.
If I am not mistaken the Target Minis are chambered in .223, not 5.56 like the regular Minis. That is something to take into account. It will make a more accurate rifle, but it limits your ammo choices. Your ammo choices for precision shooting will be far more limited by the 1:9 twist on this than ...

Re: ZS Hot or Not: Knives Edition
Cheap knives. A Mora something or other craft knife - cheapest one on amazon - with carbon steel blade, light as a feather and sharp as heck, easily replaceable, prominent finger guard. And a Gerber Artifact - knockoff of an Atwood design probably. Replaced my Widgy, and seems to be a bit more rigid...

Re: Flash Mob & Rob of a WalMart
Plan A - (not spotted or targeted yet by looters, I'm just around when they start doing their thing.) I would act casual and rapidly but discreetly walk out, whistling tunelessly, clandestinely popping a cell phone pic or video clip or two if I could get away with it. Get to car. Drive to elsewhere....

Re: Combat tactics 101: Melee weapon choice
A frozen walrus phallus wrapped in barbed wire and Poison Ivy. Lot of good it did the Walrus. How would a 12" blade or so bowie knife work as an anti-zombie wepping? Something with a decent amount of blade width and belly? Would it serve decent duty as a halfassed solution for machete, wood process...

Re: A Cape Scenario 1: The Movie Theater and other
Can you balance on the armrest and seatback in front of you and fire a critical first shot when he's not looking, followed by a well-aimed string of fire? There are some people in this thread that I think could. I'm not one of them. Not now, and maybe not ever . I think it could be worth a try. May...

Re: strangest thing you have ever seen
On the subject of strange people at urinals, I was at a bar during crawfish season a few years back. I went to go take a piss, and this guy decides to use the urinal right next to the one I was using, despite the fact that the bathroom was empty. Then, he proceeds to overtly meatgaze me for about f...
