Re: Where to Buy Medical Products: The Definitive Thread

Hello, As a civilian contractor Rescue Essentials is my go to source of TC3 type medical supplies for the past 7 years. Just recently I placed a couple orders with them to replace expired items and upgrade to Gen 7 CAT tourniquets in my personal IFAK and MARCH PAWS (combat lifesaver kit) fanny pack....

Re: Good place to buy gauze?

As a contractor it is up to us to provide a lot of our personal gear, to include an IFAK. I picked up a dozen or so original ACU IFAK pouches and inserts off eBay for around $6 a set and repack them for team members, see list below. Rescue Essentials is my preferred vendors for first aid supplies. I...

Ian,

Well done! While I am not Catholic, His Holiness leads by example and sets the bar very high for those who can.

My IFAK and BLS Bag

As a military contractor I take an IFAK and BLS Bag along on my adventures. Over the years I have replaced and updated items as they expire. http://i748.photobucket.com/albums/xx124/wild_weasel_photo/Tactical%20Tailor%20Bag_zpsgscsxvs8.jpg Tactical Tailor Bag http://i748.photobucket.com/albums/xx124...

I used Echolink while in Afghanistan, if the router I was logged in through did not block UDP.

Re: Building first trauma kit. Need advice

I have been going through my Combat Lifesaver Bags and IFAK replacing outdated items and things that have lost the vacuum seal. The old items do not go to waste however, I use them for practice. After trying the outdated chest seals on myself I look like the man-o-lantern from the 40 Year Old Virgin...

Re: Building first trauma kit. Need advice

The contents of the current US Army Combat Lifesaver Kit (Appendix A) are a great place to start. I trained with and used this kit in Iraq and Afghanistan for three years, since my hobbies now include reloading, hunting, and target shooting it is still appropriate for my needs. With the addition of ...

Re: First Aid training

Save your money and sign up of an EMT course at your local community college. If your active duty you can get reimbursed, it will look good on your APR, and you can actually participate in the local EMS and get street smart.

Kutter_0311, EtAl.,

The point is, without proper training and or direction the gear in question can do more harm than Basic Life Support (BLS) alone.

Re: What training and certs do you have and maintain.

I have to agree with you P A. I look at some of the gear people pack in their kits and shake my head. While active duty I the US Air Force, from 1980 to 1986, I maintained an EMT-A (ambulance) and CPR certifications. After becoming a contractor in Afghanistan I had the opportunity to become Combat L...

I’ve used the the Aguila 60gr SSS in both my 10/22 and 1911A1 Ciener 22lr conversion. While shooting them in my 10/22 at an indoor range I noticed I was getting “chamber flash”, while firing in my Ciener conversion everything looked OK. In either gun the 60gr bullets were starting to yaw as close as...

I appreciate your disappointment; there are a lot of dodgy sellers out there looking to make a quick buck. If you’re looking for a solid military medical kit to build up try looking for a surplus Combat Lifesaver M3 Kit / Bag on eBay, they run around $50. I’m a civilian contractor in Afghanistan and...
