Re: Cub scout altoids tin

Sounds like a great idea. But remember firestarting is not allowed for Tigers, same thing for knives. Regardless of our personal opinions on those items, as adult leaders we promised to follow the BSA policies that are set for scouting. Knives ( only certain types) are allowed after a Cubscout in t...

Re: Tough Mudder- Boots or Five Fingers?

Having done just that in my KSOs I can say that it does suck. I still wouldn't -not- run in my VFFs because squishy platform running shoes suck a lot more.

Re: Cub scout altoids tin

We're working on survival kits with our Pack as well. We teach our youth Hug-a-Tree and are building their kits based on that SOP. We focus on FAK, Shelter, Signalling, Water and Food. They've all made a small kit and now we're working on expanding that to a backpack kit, and adding water, shelter ...

Re: Cub scout altoids tin

You sound like exactly the kind of den leader I wish I had when I was into scouting. My recollection of cub scouts is vague memories of way too many key chain lanyards, mothers day craft presents and a robotic pusuit of arrowhead patches that involved little, if any practical fieldcraft. We never w...

Re: Tough Mudder- Boots or Five Fingers?

From the Tough Mudder website: Shoes: normal running shoes. Football or rugby boots won’t help–they’ll harm the other participants and can damage parts of the courses. Short answer – wear normal running shoes and warm but light clothing, plus gloves and a swim cap. http://toughmudder.com/training-p...

Tough Mudder- Boots or Five Fingers?

Ok so Im doing my 1st tough mudder in april. The question I have is should I wear my five fingers or my combat hikers??? I wear my five fingers all the time while running but I dont think they would stand up to a tough mudder. My Danner combat hikers , I think they would be best but I would hate to ...

Re: Ruger LCR, for the wife to carry?

Ok. I went to Cabelas yesterday and held the LCR. I must say it is awful light. Im sure the wife will like it however I would worry about +p recoil for her. Next step is to let her hold one. Thanks for all your replies.

One more thing, Cabelas had Mosin Nagants on sale for $99. So I bought 3.

Re: Ruger LCR, for the wife to carry?

In all seriousness, asking a message board isn't the best idear for choosing a carry piece. I sure hope there's a range near by where the wife can try out the LCR. There are no gun shops around here where she test fire a gun before purchase. The best we can we can do handle it. Shes use to my model...

Re: Ruger LCR, for the wife to carry?

The recoil is painful at best. Follow up shots are slow, and the DAO trigger may (99%) be difficult for a new shooter to place rounds on target. I would say nay. Get a revolver that weighs a few more ounces. Most women (all the ones I know) have so much crap in their purses that a few extra ounces ...

Ruger LCR, for the wife to carry?

I would like to get a new handgun for my wife to carry. Does anyone have one of these? Ive read up on them and they seem OK. Anything anyone can add would be appreciated.
