Re: Retail Prep Store

There is one in Calico Rock, Ar called Survival U.S.A. He has everything from 10/22 mags to large bags of rice and beans up to whole house generators. I stop in when I'm delivering in the area, and there is usually someone in there. The place is never full, but there is almost always a hiking guy or...

Re: Buddy (A dog's view of the ZPAW)

As far as the critter interaction is concerned, I just rolled through it and pretty much defined it in my mind as an interpretation of tail wags and the communications that are normally offered by different animals. No problems at all. I didn't give it a second thought.
Keep it up. It's good stuff.

Re: how do u prepare for life on 2 wheels?

Don't carry tons of stuff on the bike. You'll need space for groceries and beer. I'm kind of in the same shape as you for storage. I ride a Vmax and saddle bags don't quite go well with the bike. As a solution, I learned to carry a lot of stuff on my person. My shoelaces are paracord. The right one ...

Welcome aboard. I love your area, and visit often. Little Piney, Haw Creek, and all of the falls around Richland keep me occupied for a good part of the year.
That and it's great motorcycle territory.
Glad to have ya.

That's just wrong. When did you people join the cub scouts? When did you first go camping? The rules are fine to have posted as a general baseline, but zero tolerance is zero intelligence. I remember "be prepared" before the ripe old age of 10. The kid should be able to post and learn or contribute....

Careful over there. I usually deliver to Memphis, Bartlett, and Millington/Brighton. Y'all were already screwed a week and a half ago. I heard that one poor soul was driving to work when the roadway gave up under his car and sent him to his death in a torrent of water. My deliveries were shut off ju...

Go ahead and drop the cash for the new max. Hell, if I quit buying back tires for my 86, I could have the money saved in no time ;)

Sweet! another Vmaxer. We're pretty rare and It's good to find another.
I'm pretty fond of the ZRex. The Z1000, a SV or if looking for a gas saver, a gutless Vstar would work around town pretty well while getting great mileage.

Re: help with mounting cb antenna please!

You're blocking most of the signal with that setup. Even if you get a signal, it will only come from in front of you. A little firestick will be obstructed by about 180 degrees. You need to get that thing up high for a good signal otherwise you're turning that omnidirectional antenna into a friggin ...

Hammer, come-a-long, and don't forget to rotate the gas in those two cans. Ethanol is for drinking, not for powering vehicles. The stuff soaks up moisture from the air and doesn't last long.

Seal it back up and store it in a cool dry place. It'll last decades. I've gotten some from a yard sale that was probably 20 years old. It was off color, but burned fine.

I just bought a pair of KSO's today. Keep in mind that I NEVER wear shoes when I don't have to. I'm one of those freaks that likes to hike barefoot, and I don't care if it's gravel or screws laying around in my path. There's not much that will puncture the bottom of my foot. Pros: They fit great. I ...

I know that there are people on this board that LOVE their jeep, but in my experience they are not worth the headache. He actually has a valid point on this subject. A Jeep is a hole in the mud that you throw money into BUT I can't say they aren't worth the headache. Keep that in mind when I say......

Re: Earthquake ignorant in Arkansas

Say it's a 8.0. Should I expect a post tornado type of damage or would it be completely different? I've got enough tools to build or fix damn near anything, along with white-gas for months, propane for the "buddy" heater, firewood (if I still have a fireplace) a genny, chainsaw, food, gas, and water...

Earthquake ignorant in Arkansas

I want to add anything specific I may need for earthquakes, but I don't know anything about them except for playing "Earthshaker". (I was good with the multi-ball BTW). With the New Madrid, and these little quakes around Guy giving little burps lately, I'm wondering if there are any specific needs f...

Parts do not interchange without work. That includes grips. If he wants to tinker, get a RIA. If he wants to have some fun, take it out and have a blast. Mine had no trouble with ball or HP but it hated surplus mags. As long as it had a Kimber mag in it, it was flawless. You don't buy one to upgrade...

I really liked the Pachmayr American legend grips. If they made 'em for a officer size pistol, I'd buy them again.
They look good for rubber/wood and feel great.

Older people's requirements?

My Dad bought a RV a few months ago. He bought it to just hang out at camp sites and relax. Not a prepper at all. It's an older Hurricane, and has plenty of space. Over those few months, I've been working on the thing and bringing water, ramen noodles, vitamin D and a few MRE's. I hide them as I wor...
