Re: Origami Measuring Spoons

Great concept and execution. Would I bother taking them camping or take up space and room in a go bag? Hell no! Have all your meals prepared ahead of time. Freeze dried, dehydrated, MREs, whatever. But faffing about in the bush making meals from scratch? Screw that.

If you want to keep it strictly to “office supplies” – binder clips, or bulldog clips. Many uses.

Re: Tasmanian 'bug out'

A few years back on a week long hike around Kejimkujik in Nova Scotia, I found out the hard way that not all CR-123's are created equal. The batteries that came with the Steripen were Panasonics. They worked fine. When I bought the unit from TADGear, I bought a box of Evergreen CR123’s to accompany ...

Re: Dunamis Gear Custom Pouches on HC 4800!

They look very sharp.

To get a more accurate size, use a formula of circumference being width plus depth times 2, divided by π, divide that sum by 2, which equals the radius. Then to get the volume, take π, multiply that by radius squared times height.

FlameStower

The FlameStower is a field charging unit that allows the charging of USB enabled devices (cell and satellite phones, handheld GPS units, AA and AAA batteries, headlamps, digital cameras, etc.). Place the blade on or near a heat source, (camping stove or fire, candles even), and put water in the rese...

Re: jerk needle

"Borrow" a jeans or leather needle from your significant others sewing machine kit. You couldn’t just go out and buy a needle yourself? I find there is this continual insinuation that sewing is for women, and heaven forbid a man be seen in public buying anything to do with sewing, lest he be though...

My thoughts? Put that hatchet in that ring, and all that stuff in those pouches and then walk around with it all day long. And do some vigorous movement, run, jump, scramble down a hill, act like you have to scurry out of sight to hide. Then when you’ve done that, come back here and report what you’...

Re: Poncho with Space Blanket Liner ?

Considering space blankets are essentially a disposable item and are so flimsy they will last for a night or three at most, why would you bother with this? Three Mylar blankets takes up less than half the space of one casualty blanket. For a fanny pack or cargo pocket, the cheap disposable ones are...

Re: Poncho with Space Blanket Liner ?

Considering space blankets are essentially a disposable item and are so flimsy they will last for a night or three at most, why would you bother with this? If you want this item, which is a lot more durable than the space blankets, just get one of these. I got mine for $10.

Re: Best5Zach's Bug out bag

HOLY COW! You can spend a lot of money! Like, in the THOUSANDS! Most of the kits hover around $800. That's a lot of cheddar where I come from! Pulling one of the AVERAGE $800 dollar kit's equipment lists, I notice that while it's a nice kit and very complete, it's actual worth is about 3/4 of what ...

I have no dog in this fight, but after a decade at military forums and three decades of friends in the military, I just know that wearing patches unearned rankle them to no end. It often ends up with some uncomfortable consequences for the wearer. And for gods sake, whatever you do, DO NOT get a tat...
