Re: Firearms Chat 5: #pewpewlife

IWI US Discontinuing the Tavor Correct. My dad and I, after much debate, and after shooting the X95 that my uncle's wife got him for Christmas (she is entirely too good to that man. Not true, but he is a lucky fellow), we decided that we wanted the original Hebrew Hammer that was developed over 15 ...

Re: Firearms Chat 5: #pewpewlife

Hey y'all, I don't know if anyone is looking for a Tavor, but my dad came across this deal last week: https://www.cdnnsports.com/iwi-tavor-sar-556-16-inch-woodland-digital-camo.html#.WqCH_GaZNsb And so I did some research. Turns out, in 2015, Davidson Firearms had a batch of these hydro-dipped in a ...

Thanks, y'all.

I was thinking of this series just yesterday. I stopped on like page 270, and had forgotten the name. Haven't read it in over 6 years.

Re: Military coup d'etat in Turkey

Let's hope the military turns turkey (traditionally very secular), away from the Islamic state that Erdogan has been pushing it. Yeah I was originally misinformed about the intent and circumstances. My Turkish uncle is very happy with this development and hopes that the military can stabilize and s...

I've had a Leatherman Wave for maybe 15 years. Absolutely great tool. However, I'm now partial to the Leatherman MUT. I think it's even more awesome. I know Braxton EDCs and senselessly abuses his MUT like every day for the past 3 years, so maybe he can chime in.

Re: Ebola All Over The Place

Allegedly there is a patient who tested positive about 3 hours ago at the VA in Dallas, TX. I wonder where *that* came from? I'll post back with updates or confirmation yes/no when I hear it. Thanks VLee! I'm calling this the post Iron Bowl update. No new info. So it looks like there was ei...

Re: Ebola All Over The Place

Allegedly there is a patient who tested positive about 3 hours ago at the VA in Dallas, TX. If this is true, I hope we get to see what I think is an amazing containment protocol activated that was developed the last time Dallas had a case. I'll post back with updates or confirmation yes/no when I he...

Re: Firearms Chat Part 2: Bullpups cause all the rage!

I never thought I'd say this about a Taurus but I want one. I wish it were 9mm like others, but I think I could manage, if they have no plans for a 9. My first thought was "Fucking shit. Leave it to Taurus to make a life-or-death gunfighting equivalent to one of those wallet credit card 'tools'". B...

Re: Ebola All Over The Place

Asymptomatic viremia is not known to occur and travelers from epidemic foci are deferred under current malaria screening guidance for US blood donors, so the likelihood of blood donation by viremic individuals is considered negligible. Transfusion transmission is not described and has not been alle...

Re: Ebola All Over The Place

Americans tend to act like dumb-asses when shit like this comes up. They usually panic because, geographically, the oceans insulate us from a lot of nasty stuff. It's a diffrent story looking at it from here TO there........Over here, all I've seen is the governement educating everyone possible, co...

Re: Ebola All Over The Place

For every nurse that would wade into the breech of Patient Zero's room to care for him like that, there would be 100 that would be on the phone to their union rep or calling in sick. I'm not saying what's right or wrong, and I'm not judging people who wouldn't take the risk because they have kids/d...

Re: Ebola All Over The Place

So my question is how much of the virus is shedding out in sweat and other body fluids in the early stages (day 0 to 7) and how easy is it to catch the virus from touching a secondary infected item or surface? I don't know the first part of that question, but the infection of the 2 nurses in Dallas...

Thanks for posting the vid WW!!! Brave folks indeed! This may have been mentioned already, but, just for the masses, how does some-one (namely "patient zero") initially contract Ebola? Mosquito's? Contact with Animals/animal feces/animal carcasses? I'm going to re-drect you to duodecima's posts ear...

I'm beginning to think that if just a few more cases crop up here in the States, the shit will truly hit the fan. Not from the virus itself, but the panic. Yes I agree with you. I've reevaluated my short-term preps because of it. My fear is if Ebola sparks off in any number of densely populated urb...

Re: Ebola All Over The Place

The Infectious Disease team has some pretty damn solid reporting and protocols in place that go a little above and beyond CDC guidelines. They've been doing a LOT of work in the last month on this, and while if this place ever got an Ebola patient we wouldn't be full BSL4 for it, they've set up an a...

Is it possible to rename the thread "Ebola All Up In This Motherfucker?" for levity's sake? We have a surprise conference that is optional to attend in about 30 minutes concerning preparedness in the wake of an ebola outbreak. Seeing as I live 4 miles from the index hospital, and I work 12 miles fro...

The Nurses' Union report on the Dallas protocols makes some serious allegations: "The nurses allege that his [Duncan's] lab samples were allowed to travel through the hospital's pneumatic tubes, possibly risking contaminating of the specimen-delivery system."
