Re: Standardizing on Ammo?

Ruger Police carbine + ruger pistols One of the guys in my SG went this route, and it's a pretty smart one IMO. Of course he has a couple of our group-standard AKs as well as a couple SKSs, Mausers, and a few other deer rifle type longarms; all of which outperform the Ruger 9mm carbine by a longsho...

Re: Vintage Al Mar Boot Knife and Gerber Mark II survival knife

Your question and the following answer made me realize I made a mistake in the title of the auction. I read M1aMatt's resopnse and thought, "Mine is a Mark 1, what's he talking about 'different lengths?'" Then I noticed that I banged the "I" key one too many times in the title of the auction. Sorry ...

Re: Bushnell and Eotech Magnifiers

That might work, but I'd go with this one waaay before I dropped the 3 or 4 hundred dollars on an eotech one. I have one on my AK with an eoTech 550 and, for $40 shipped, it's the bee's knees.

Re: Mounting AK optics

I have the Beryl-style rail on my main AK, and I've found that the center channel of the rail acts as a good rear sight. Good enough to hit with if the batteries go down on my EOtech, at least.

The Ed Brown Kobra. there is no more beautiful 1911 on earth.

I have a Kimber SS Pro Carry that is my EDC. It's a great looking pistol, and very functional right out o' the box. But if you just want aesthetics... shoo boy, get yerself a Kobra.

Re: US police 'foil Obama assassination plot'

From the CBS Denver story: Sources told CBS4 police found two high-powered, scoped rifles in the car along with camouflage clothing, walkie-talkies, wigs, a bulletproof vest, a spotting scope, licenses in the names of other people and 44 grams of methamphetamine. One of the rifles is listed as stole...

Re: Cheap shotgun mounted light suggestions.

Dont let me lead you down the path of fail. I definitely agree that the swatforce package would fail under heavy use, and that the quality is going to be miles below an American-made weapon light. As everyone here has said, you get what you pay for. Would I go to war with it? Hell naw, Craig! But I ...

Re: Cheap shotgun mounted light suggestions.

I have this package on my Mossberg 500, and it has never failed. It's bright enough to light up my whole backyard on a moonless night, and it's been tough enough to handle a good deal of shooting. Honestly, how much are you going to be shooting this shotgun? I know you need to shoot it enough to get...

After all, it's better when things go wrong on a small-scale emergency than when TS is really HTF, you've got bombs falling everywhere, people firing guns wildly into the night, zombies rising from the grave, evil witch doctors with demonic voodoo dolls running about willy-nilly, packs of wild dogs...

Re: I almost drew my gun today...

I live at the end of a very, very long driveway that meanders through a couple of fields separated by tree lines. I have seriously considered posting a multi-lingual "friend or foe" sign at the last tree line warning anyone who drives up that they are entering into range. Kind of hard to keep a low-...

Re: First post/ need suggestions for a concealment holster

As you'll see over at the Defensive Carry forum, the Crossbreed Supertuck is a very popular holster. I have CC'ed a 1911 daily for the past 7 months in mine, and it is absolutely the most undetectable and comfortable holster I've ever used. Check it out. BTW - welcome to the forum. There's a wealth ...

My 5 year old son and I went camping last night and we used dryer lint to get the ol' marshmallow-roaster up and burning. Like Colt 45, it works every time.

The most "tactical" thing you could do would be to get a wedding ring tattoo instead of putting something on your finger that is a horrific accident waiting to happen.

Just sayin'.

There is a wealth of information on this page: Criteria for Choosing a Retreat Locale in the Continental United States (CONUS)

If I were looking at a blank-slate, I'd definitely pull heavily from the information there before making any decisions. Good luck!

If your ammo preps are squared away, buy it for future profit/barter/charity. If you arent sitting on a huge pile of ammo for your MBR, pistol and shotgun; I'd skip it.

I'm all about some Under Armor drawers (and socks and shirts) too, but with one caveat: understand that UA junk will melt and literally bond with your sizzling flesh in the event that it catches on fire. I dont plan to catch on fire anytime soon, but if I do I will be making myself one barefooted co...

I've had a pair of 16" Carolina lineman's boots that have a whole lot of walking miles on 'em in the backwoods. I worked on a tree farm for just about a year and wore them every day with a utilikilt and a wife-beater. Total comfort. Definitely PAW-worthy. http://www.stompersboots.com/fots_carolina/P...

Re: what cheap handguns do you have a high opinion off?

I can personally endorse the Kel-Tec and the Ruger P series, bigtime. Kel-Tec P3AT, (and even the PF-9 to a lesser extent), are concealable in your front pocket. I've had a P3AT for deep concealment for the past 5 years, and once I did the mandatory fluff & buff I've never had a problem with it goin...

Re: Has anyone used Chinese copies of Eotech/Aimpoint/Etc?

I run a "real" EoTech 550 on my rifle, and I wanted something I could get a little more range with. I looked long and hard at an EoTech 3x Magnifier, but the $400 price tag kept putting me off. After reading a bunch of threads at AR15.com, I decided to give the Chinese 3x magnifier copy a try. I got...
