Re: Far Cry 5

It's OK for all the reasons you list, but I couldn't continue playing after I got about half way through. The weird acid trip mini games that interrupt and trap you every five minutes and bugged side missions got on my nerves.

Re: Sleeping with a gun under your pillow?

I have never slept with a gun under my pillow. I have slept with a gun in my sleeping bag, because Senior NCO's would come around at night and relieve anyone of their weapon who didn't have it secured in the field. There's this bear guide I know who sleeps with a gun in his sleeping bag when out on...

Re: Sleeping with a gun under your pillow?

For a minute I thought this thread was about keeping a firearm under your pillow.
Then I came to my senses as that's crazy sauce.

Re: "Walking Dead" Cable Series

Interesting to see we've come full circle. When I first posted something critical on this thread (I later mostly enjoyed seasons 3-5, 6 meh) I was met with nothing but vitriol. It seems like this thread is nothing but criticism now. The show came a long way after season 2 in their approach to securi...

Re: Chinese Military (Wonder) Shovel Review (56K Death)

Here's an idea: Take one of these
http://www.coldsteel.com/Product/92BSS/ ... USHER.aspx

Cut it in half. Turn the handle portion on a wood lathe or something to roughly the same geometry as the shovels handle.
Screw that shit in.
= indestructable shovel goodness.

Thoughts?

Re: Look for new EDC light

I'll cast my vote for SureFire as well. I'm carrying this: http://www.surefire.com/E2E-Executive-Elite?&search_id=3142173" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (which is discontinued, 60 lumens). However, I've been using the same one for EDC since 2006 and it was worth the extra expense at...

Re: NBC Protection in your BOB? Why or why not

Most protective masks and equipment are mission specific. A mask good for NBC is not good for ALL NBC or tear gas (or OC/CN) or smoke from a fire, etc. Additionally, having protection against NBC is useless without a decontamination facility and support staff to clean you up and administer meds/coun...

Re: Batteries designed for long term storage

Code Red batteries are an interesting idea poorly executed. I first saw them tested in an issue of American Survival Guide in the 80's I think. They were so weak the flashlight beam barely showed up on camera. My own tests in the early 90's had the same results. I don't know of any other company tha...

Re: Look for new EDC light

I tend to go for custom Surefire 6-Ps... bored for 18650's, with McClickys, custom bevels, and that expensive crap but I've been pleased with my Fenix lights. I have no problem recommending an E21 or LD20. I'm carrying an E21 right now and I like it a lot. At $35.00 it throws a similar beam to my st...

I'll admit it...I'm a cheap ass and I generally just print off a variation from the FREE targets at http://www.protargets.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. Outside of really specific marksmanship training, these have never let me down. ;) im even cheaper than that.... i use pizza ...

Re: What kind of targets do you use?

Lots of different kinds. Usually a silhouette of some type which may occasionally sport a shoot-n-C type dot on it. If I can help it I no longer frequent ranges with the no human shaped targets rule. It's..well...silly. In the non-silhouette category I tend to prefer a large bold diagonal "X" over a...

Re: Shotgun or AR, Which Would You Choose?

Plus each model runs a little different, and you can run them wet, and altitude makes a dif and temp, etc etc etc.

I ran 55gr .223 thru a short model a few years back on a Colt M-4 and it was about like .22lr. No hearing protection at all.

I've never had a 12ga run that quiet.
