Re: Free Ice Traction

That idea doesn't sound very wise. Instead, there are products available on the market for quick traction. Like Yaktrax. http://yaktrax.com/ProductsPro.aspx Pfffffffft.... sure, if you're a yuppie runner. Dig this: there's a subculture of hardcore athletes that are relatively well-off and well-bred...

Re: Watersafe bathtub bladders

I have read about these, and when I was taking my CERT training and the topic of discussion was home preps, I asked the instructor about them. He didn't favor them. His thoughts: chances are that by the time need your tub bladder, it's already too late to fill it. In the event of any type of water ...

Re: What contingency and survival podcasts do you listen to?

Thanks for this thread. Here are two more for the list: http://www.blogtalkradio.com/NorthStarXO There was an even better survival-related podcast that ran on TalkShoe.com throughout 2007 called "Practical Preparedness." It was released under the umbrella of 10MinuteLessons.com and is archived here:...

Re: SHTF While Your Pipe Band is in the Middle of a Parade

Not to shit on your parade (pun most definitely intended) but is this really one of those universal scenarios that one should give thought to in case it happens to them??? You lost me at "You are in a pipe band,...". Actually, yes, I think that the scenario can be applied to anybody that regularly ...

Re: SHTF While Your Pipe Band is in the Middle of a Parade

A couple of good ideas so far. Thank you. Overnight, I thought of a few more uses for items on hand: - Make an improvised flail out of the sporran chain strap. - Cut the drone cord, separating the two tenor drones from the bass drone. Use the tops of the tenor drones (still tied together with the co...

SHTF While Your Pipe Band is in the Middle of a Parade

Here's something I think about every now and then... Scenario: You are in a pipe band, marching down the street in a major city when all hell breaks loose. The zombies are rising and you cannot get to your car due to roadblocks / explosions / other blockages / quarantine. All you have is what is on ...

Re: Your SHTF Bunker

Thanks for letting us know about this documentary. Who else watched it? I found it very well done. Short and to the point. One of the best 30 minutes of tv I've had in a while. Fair treatment. I especially like the guy who has his house wired so, while down in his bunker, he can track intruders and ...

Thumbs up on what tilt and veritas said: don't concern yourself with sterile gloves.

Remember, you wear gloves to protect you. They're for controlling/preventing disease/infection transmission.
