Re: You're at work. Things go bad. What would you do?
I work night shift in the Emergency Department of the local trauma center. We are in FL, so our building codes do not take earthquakes into account. Any other disaster that causes the effects you are describing, but leaves the building standing and I will be stuck at work for a while. Fortunately I ...

Re: Rural home invasion – barricade or run for it?
Going with OP's scenario, wait until the group gets 1/3 to 1/2 way between the house and the vehicles then empty the shotgun out the window into the group aiming for abdominal shots. I specify that distance because from a human psychology perspective the survivors are most likely to fall back and ta...

So that is why the Houthi rebels in Yemen started launching antiship missiles at Saudi tankers in the gulf of Yemen today.

Re: Neighborhood Emergency Response Radio?
Beofeng BF888S radios are cheap, reliable, have good battery life, and are USB rechargeable. Amazon has them for $14 each or $10.50 if you buy a 6 pack. The USB charger is separate on some packages and you get regular 120v wall chargers so check when you order. They can also be programmed to work on...

Re: Rioting in Germany
The last 3 paragraphs have an interesting choice of verbiage. The shut it down before it escalated which implies a fight involving 80 is not unusal. Apparently 20 to 30 people per side and incidents has happened recently. So I would say large groups of (~80)people with machete in fights are not unc...

Re: 3% of American gun owners own a collective 133M firearms
The claim has been thoroughly debunked by industry research. The ~300 million guns in the USA number comes from a study done in the 80's that only accounted for weapons produced to that point.

Yup. No matter what vest/rig/belt you think you might have time to put on, two mags taped together or at least a spare strapped to the butt makes the most sense for the right-the-hell-now kind of event we pray we will never see. https://www.magpul.com/products/firearms-accessories/magazine-enhancem...

Re: Paranoid Californians Prepare for Nuclear Attack
Oddly Los Angeles is one of the more protected areas from nuclear attack from the NORKs. How so? Just curious. I think they are actually more vulnerable to a nuke attack via unconventional means like using a container ship mounted device. But that is strictly my opinion and not fact. That's what I ...

Re: Do you have Body Armor?
Snip for space Which would you suggest to get first, concealable or heavy rifle? And couldn't you get rifle armor that fulfills both roles? From my experience rifle armor sucks even more and the concealable forms require much heavier clothing to conceal. Whatever you get, if it is for SHTF I would ...

Re: Do you have Body Armor?
All armor sucks to wear long term. It actually puts a strain on your body systems that can be seen in your vital signs (I work at a hospital and sometimes we play around with the equipment when we are bored). Can you share any data on that? It's been a few years since I've worn plates on the job, b...

I wear concealable armor for work and have worn various plate carriers overseas. All armor sucks to wear long term. The first place I saw "Only thing worse then a zombie, is a zombie that is on fire." was in a old online zombie fiction story about a guy trying to survive the zombie apocalypse at some kind of private prep school. It was very detailed and eventually the story was concluded not just left off when t...

Re: US Army picks Sig 320
Is my math correct here? We are paying $1,178 per pistol acquired? I hope that includes a bunch of spare magazines, parts and such. $580 million / 492,000 pistols = $1,178 each https://www.yahoo.com/news/sig-p320-u-armys-sidearm-193331061.html Cabellas has them for $599 each retail. Your math is go...

This news article has an example of the RUF/ROE card I was required to have in my possession at all times when armed in Iraq and Kuwait working as a contractor. You can see how someone could easily misunderstand without good training. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/monkey-cage/wp/2016/08/16/ma...

Assuming everyone is armed is a lot different then having a list of what weapons people have to check off as they are confiscated. Re: Lithuania publishes a "What to do if Russia Invades" man
The US has not faced serious threat of invasion by a military force of any substance since 1817 unless you count the Beatles. The US Army announced recently they want to upgrade the ATACMS weapon system to be used as a ground launched antiship missile. That would let any of the hundreds of MLRS lau...
