It's all personal preference. I like the leatherman supertool. I've used it for years, and it's never let me down. Good stuff!

Re: What have you bought lately? (Bug Out Version)

Bought a maxpedition lunada...very nice bag. Using it for a "get home bag". It's not very large, but considering the useage, it's just about perfect. It rides in my truck most of the time, but there...just in case.

Try the RAT (Randall adventure and training) knives. The come in various sizes, and are designed for survival use. I own several, and they are outstanding :!:

Re: CRKT fans

I've collected CRKT knives ever since the place opened for business.
Regarding the "originals" as opposed to the new ones made in Taiwan...I see little if any difference in quality. Good stuff :)

If you have a large Alice pack,..use it. It's better to have too much space,..than not enough. :)

Carry a water filter, and some purification tablets. That way you only need carry what you'll be using at the time. Beats hell out of carrying a hundred pounds of water. :)

Re: Campaign Hats

I had a Marine Corps drill instructor cover that I picked up someplace back in the day. I'd wear it around the barracks when I was stationed at Iwakuni Marine corps air station. The only reason I wore it was..it seemed to irritate everybody for some reason. I also have a 1930's 40's Marine Corps pit...

Re: Boonie Hats

The poor thing has been washed so many times over the years I've lost count. As far as pics go, the only one that I have is when the thing was relative new sitting on my noggin (I was busy drinking Hachi honey wine at firebase "dogpatch" about 3 clicks south of the DMZ. :)

George Soros is the worst of the worst! He says nothing without there being a political agenda attached to it. I wouldn't trust that fat fuck as far as I could throw him :!: :!: :!:

Re: Costco...the ultimate haven.

Even though the place looks inviting because of all the stuff they have, I don't think I'd want to be anywhere near there if things went "south". Everybody, and their brother would be there snatching, & grabbing everything in sight. Remember the scenes from "Katrina" in NOLA. The stores were overrun...

Re: Boonie Hats

I still have my boonie cover, and still wear the thing. It's been washed so much that it's close to being an off white with O.D. tinge.
It was issued to me (gonna give away my age now :) )in 1968 in DaNang RVN. Great piece of gear :!:

Actually there's no such thing as having too much ammo. My plan is to "bug in", but in the eventuality that I would be forced to bug out,....I would cache it, hide it, do something with it. You have to remember,..if the SHTF then getting more would be an impossibility. What you have is ...what you h...

I bought an ATI Zytel stock for my SKS, and installed it yesterday (it took a little filing to get the fit right). There was actually nothing wrong with the original stock other than it was wood. I wanted a stock that's weatherproof and does not retain moisture. Damp wood contributes to corrosion of...
