Re: Getting my Texas CHL....

Got my PIN number today and according to their web site they are "Processing Application". Sweet! -- Jeremy The downside is that it will list your status as 'processing application' until three days after you get the card in the mail... or at least mine was. The good news is that they probably didn...

Re: Getting my Texas CHL....

I stuck the Glock in my waist band for a little bit tonight while I was walking around the house. It felt very natural and comfortable.
I think I may order a IWB holster next week.

Re: Getting my Texas CHL....

There is a massive backlog in TX for getting a CHL..some have reported 140+ days getting their plastic in! Re: Getting my Texas CHL....

Took the CHL course today and it was pretty darn easy. The hardest bit was trying to stay awake for the entire 10 hour course on a Sunday. They went over the laws and some verbal skills you can use to deescalate a situation. We went to the range and I think I managed to get the lowest score in the c...

Re: Remington 870 (image heavy)

Also is it normal to see some wear on the side of the bolt or do I need to lube it up more?-- Jeremy Yeah, that's what i was talking about, I put actual grease (thin film, on the wearing parts) They'll "wear in" and then no more wear after that. It's normal. For the forend rubbing on the barrel, it...

Re: ZSARC PResident Nominees

Even if the officers are near each other members will be all over the country/world. Not to mention it would severely limit who could be an officer. I think the meetings can and should be held over Skype or some other free conferencing service as we will have members with different license levels. -...

Re: ZSARC PResident Nominees

I have my Tech. License, but I am still trying to decide on a radio. As far as experience: I was the president (don't laugh) of the Drama Club at my community college (8 years ago) more recently I was the member of a kayaking club and a sailing club, but I wasn't an officer in either. I am the Devel...

Re: Getting my Texas CHL....

I am not that concerned about passing. I just want to make sure I have good skills. -- Jeremy If you're left-handed, you need to reduce thumb pressure. If you're right-handed you need to start using the pad of your finger to pull the trigger instead of the joint. On Sunday I went to the range, took...

Re: Remington 870 (image heavy)

Ok so I took the gun apart again this time removing the trigger group (scratched the finish in the process of getting the pins out, but oh well) I sprayed rem-oil where they said to on the trigger group and looked for wear marks on the other parts. Places that were a bit worn got some heavier oil. I...

Re: Remington 870 (image heavy)

Also wooden heat guard ( aka the part you pump) seems to be rubbing against the barrel on the left side. My 20 gauge 870 does this a little. I've got synthetic furniture, though - it doesn't seem to hurt anything. Can't say what wood would do. Yeah it wasn't concerning me too much as the forend ass...

Re: Remington 870 (image heavy)

Well I ran 50 shells through the 870 and it jammed on approx 5-8 of them. Also wooden heat guard ( aka the part you pump) seems to be rubbing against the barrel on the left side. So as far as the jamming goes. I would take a shot then pull back the shell ejects fine then as I push forward the shell ...

Re: Remington 870 (image heavy)

Thanks guys! I spent some time today cleaning the gun up. I used rem-oil on everything that looked like it might need it. Unfortunately the owners manual is a bit vague on what should be oiled and what shouldn't. It was pretty easy getting things apart, but it was a bit trickier getting it all back ...

Re: Remington 870 (image heavy)

I have the same gun. It claimed 22 dove this early season. Shoots straight and true. Make sure you lube up the action good for the first 200 rounds or so, after that it's plenty loose. If not, you'll have some FTF's. Great gun! Thanks for the advice... I will strip it down and clean any "packing gr...

Remington 870 (image heavy)

So as I stated in a previous post my birthday is coming up and I was trying to decide between a shotgun or getting my CHL. What I decided to do was get my CHL, which I am still doing. My wife however knew I really wanted a shotgun and she saved the circular for Academy sporting goods store. I am not...

I am not sure where you are located but Academy Sports has the 870 Express on sale with mail in rebate.
Not the same I know, but thought I would throw that out there.
