Bottled Water

Hi all, I ran across this the other day: "What is the shelf life for bottled water? "Bottled water is considered to have an indefinite safety shelf life if it is produced in accordance with CGMP and quality standard regulations and is stored in an unopened, properly sealed container. Therefore, FDA ...

The median income was $54,045 in July, about 4.6 percent lower than when the recession began in late 2007." http://www.komonews.com/news/national/About-that-raise--US-...

Thought this was interesting, especially the third chart about the size of the "civilian labor force."

Thoughts?

Re: Global Debt Time Bomb explodes soon

It sounds simplistic, but a plan, any plan is better than no plan...which is what we have now . My apologies if this is construed as too political. QFT (emphasis mine). For what it is worth, I think you are making an extremely valuable contribution to this thread, and I do not feel you have been to...

Re: Re: Global Debt Time Bomb explodes soon

Most of their articles are opinion pieces. They *all* have a very specific political slant. It may or not be fringy but it definitely isn't journalism. If you know of a media outlet that does not have a political slant, I would be EXTREMELY glad if you would share it, as I am unaware of any such be...

Re: Global Debt Time Bomb explodes soon

Is it fair to say that the USG has maxed its VISA card, is using its MasterCard to pay the monthly interest on the VISA as well as buy stuff , and now needs to raise the credit limit on its MasterCard in order to avoid hitting that ceiling? Is it further true that at current spending levels the USG'...

Re: Global Debt Time Bomb explodes soon

I feel there's a real possibility certainty that the debt ceiling gets raised, we begin spending money like nothings wrong Fixed that for ya. Expecting Congress (under any party) to really make significant cuts because of this is like expecting a wolf to become a vegetarian because he had to run ex...

Re: Global Debt Time Bomb explodes soon

I heard on NPR this morning that the US rating may be downgraded if we raise the debt limit without imposing significant spending cuts. I'm glad someone is thinking long-term. Might this reduce the pressure to raise the debt limit? As far as I can tell the 'big stick' being held over us is the threa...

I'm glad people found this useful! BTW, as a follow up: Wednesday I did 7,583 steps, and felt fine. Another thing I should have mentioned that DementedDigital reminded me of: I drink coffee perhaps once a month, and I'm not hooked on caffeine in any other form either. One of my personal theories is ...

Fair point. I note the distinction, and I agree that the attitudes of the Chief/Mayor were unacceptable.

Oh, and prebans? That was hilarious.

Re: Survival food tablets

If you've stopped eating solid food altogether, I imagine the drastic weight loss in the first few days (2-3) should be loss of stool rather than fat/muscle/water. I'm very skeptical of these pills but I'll be keeping an eye on the thread. Also, I wouldn't discount the placebo effect when testing t...

Re: Survival food tablets

Gridley, can I make a small suggestion? Keep a ntebook by your bedside-when you wake, write down whats in your head, immediately. Dreams, thoughts, confusion, etc. I seem to recall reading somewhere that, as the body goes into survival mode, one would have more vivid dreams. I would be interested t...

Re: Ultimate Survival Shotgun

I would think at the very least he would wrap the paracord around the weapon in some way and use a bandoleer-sling. More ammo, doesn't require giving up the sling if you need the rope, and I bet you can get the rope in action just as fast. Or, better yet, make a sling that has, say, MOLLE straps on ...

The MPD has mobile cameras that may be used next 4th of July, but stated that he doesn’t want to know what goes on in the park most of the time. Emphasis is my own. Chief Flynn doesn't want to know what goes on in the park most of the time??! prebans, I agree that this is a very disturbing set of r...

I keep a crowbar in my car next to my console. If I am ever in an accident or someone else is and prying is needed, I have something on hand. It can also ward off the undead. This would probably fall under the Stretch-the-Rules bit, but I really don't plan on using it unless SRHTF. I just...

Re: Milwaukee, WI had a racial mob riot on the Fourth.

A couple of thoughts: I do believe this is a potential disaster, and thus worthy of inclusion in this forum. Think of it as the first foot the river rises, when you know there's more rain coming. Were this a rare and isolated event, it would not be a disaster, potential or otherwise. However, as not...

Re: Global Debt Time Bomb explodes soon

It would be a mess for the accountants but it would not be technical debt default. Now it would on the other hand send two messages to the markets. The first message is that the US is willing to endure problems to deal with it's debt (which is a good message), but the other message is quite bad bec...
