Re: All purpose "Help me build my AR" thread.

Thanks Dave! I love visuals! How do you set up a lower 1/3rd? I have an Eotech sitting on my rail with a DD fixed sight which gives me an absolute co-witness. What am I looking for in an optic mount to get lower 1/3? Thanks.

Can someone post a link again to the Carbine gear requirement? I still need a chest rig I know. No money for optic right now. But I need training.

Re: quick bov security upgrades on the cheap

The Club is not effective because the thief will just cut your steering wheel which only takes about 30 seconds. All locking gas caps can be popped off with a crowbar. There are various immobilizers you can buy that will replace the ignition relay in your power distribution box but those can be dis...

Yeah, the Detroit media pretty regularly portrays CPL holders in good light when faced with defending themselves. CPL holders are sort of looked at as people trying to take back the city. Not all the time but frequently.

Installed Door Clubs on my back doors so they can't be kicked in.

Set up a job to get new gutter system to prevent the zombie rain from entering my basement.

Re: Today, my horse ran away.

SwampRat, how were you carring your sidearm? I just ask because running around all day in the thick brush would have had me checking on it constantly because I know I wouldn't want to come to the end of the day and realize I wasn't carring anymore. I'd be paranoid it would get caught up on some brus...

Re: Today, my horse ran away.

Everytime my horses get out i just throw a scoop of grain in a metal pail and shake it , then they just come running back. This is exactly what we use to do. I can remember coming home on the bus about 10 or 12 years old. we lived on a long dirt road with a bunch of farms on it. Anyway, as we are r...

Be aware of a recent bad batch of .223 from USA AMMO: http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_3_118/543339_Epic_KABOOM_today___SandW_MandP15T_destroyed.html&page=1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I saw this warning on Reddit . Re: New deal Site (Gearhog) 50%-70% off deals

It's legit. It's like Groupon for men! Me and a coworker got the half off ammo coupons yesterday for usaammo.com Did you order from USAammo yet? I did with the Gearhog coupon last week Friday 7/22/11. The site still says waiting to ship, wondering if there is a back log of orders. Ordered 500 rds. ...

Re: Zombie racoon

We have a raccoon in the backyard that occasionally charges whoever is standing on the back porch. We thought it was rabid or sick or something, but the thing has been doing this for two years or so, so I think it's just a jerk of a raccoon. I've never let it get close enough to punt, preferring to...

My sidearm has a loaded chamber indicator, however, I still find myself checking to see if it is both loaded and unloaded.

Re: Ammunition packing?

I've only done this with .22 ammo but I have some old wide mouth Naglene bottles that I dump them in. Toss in a desicant packet and I'm good to go. Lightweight, watertight and easy to move around, not as flimsy as the paper boxes. It fit about a brick and half I think.

Re: Arbitrary poll: Pistol Cal. Carbine or Shotgun?

I voted Pistol Carbine, for several of the reason already noted.

Easier to carry,
lighter ammo=more ammo,
less recoil,
better followup shots,
interchangable ammo for sidearm if similar,

Re: Best cover garments for summer time

I have a lightweight windbreaker I use a lot when I have a t-shirt on and go into public I just throw the windbreaker on and I'm good to go. Put my keys in my left pocket (left-handed draw) for some weight to keep the jacket from blowing open and to help when throwing it back on a draw.

(I should have known it was a bag gun after the first shot ejected the ejector... but no... I had to go and buy $100 worth of magazines anyways) Ha. I had the same thing happen to me, although it was when I first took it out of the box and dry fired it. I took it back to Dick's and they gave me ano...

Re: Needed: Magpul MOE Mid-Length Handguard - OLIVE DRAB

I also had this problem. The grips and mags were easier to find but not the handguards. I ended up getting black and painting it OD. It's held up so far but I haven't put them through much use yet. It's not the exact OD as the Magpul OD on my grip and mags but it's very close.

Could it have been an animal? Like a really smart raccoon with a set of tools? It's weird that nothing of value was taken but to an animal the only thing valueable would be food and water.

Re: Friendly Fire Ain't...

Why did the shooting officer not look to identify the target as friend or foe first (or, did he)? They don't. A couple people mentioned above, that they were trained that anyone with a gun is considered a bad guy. I think it's good to be on guard, but they should be making more of an effort to hold...
