Re: PROJECT RATTLETRAP: Crypto buys a 1911.

Okay, so this might be my first non-troll post in this thread: Serious Question: Shooting star mags in stainless with a baseplate, or wilson combat stainless with a baseplate? The shooting star mags are about half the cost of the wilsons. Specifically, http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/?productN...

Re: Printing your own Topo Maps?

On both sites when you open them they open to a generic map of the US just zoom down to the point you want. Once you zoom down to a certain point it gives you the option to select topo in the upper right of the map. Not sure how valuable this will be considering what I have found so far. I mean the ...

Re: Printing your own Topo Maps?

Both were from the free section where you zoom into the area you wish to see from the US map, like from google or yahoo maps. Not from any individual quadrangle maps

Re: Printing your own Topo Maps?

HUH I didn't got to the USGS site before because I have a USGS map of the area that I use quite a bit that shows the lake and all the hiking trails around it. However since you asked I did go to the USGS site and found the exact same thing as I did on Mytopo. Now I'm not sure what to make of the who...

Re: Printing your own Topo Maps?

I went to MyTopo and was not so happy with the maps I found there. I looked up an area that has manmade (lake McGehee lake near Atoka Ok) it has been there for more than ten years that I know of and while the recreation area shows the lake itself is nonexistent. It still shows the original creeks an...

Re: Truck Pop Up Campers in Winter?

I haven't used a pop up camper, but I have used a canvas tent in the winter. Rig another tarp either in the inside or the outside of the canavas areas. It creates a space of dead air to insulate tent/camper and makes heating a bit easier.

Re: Mom's Journal of the Zombie Years

Day 339 (Thursday) – July 4 – Part Nine Suddenly there was a BOOM!!! Which I found out later was the sound of about 1800 pounds of RDX going off... about the same as 3000 pounds of TNT. Despite the initial warning I still went top over tail and wound upside down under a desk on the other side of th...

Re: Need help with 1911 mag release

Taking your weapon off the target when swapping mags should be a normal way to do things. If you are in a fire fight you do not want to stay exsposed while reloading, and if you can aim your wepon at the target you are exsposed. It should be an automatic reaction to seek cover, or at the very least ...

Re: 4 cyl/4WD?

I can share some of the experiences I have had with 4&6 cyl. 4X4s. I have had 2 mid 80's Toyota P/U it had a R22 4cly. With 31x10.5x15 tires on one and 33's on the other and got about 22 MPG on the highway with the 31's and 17 with the 33's. One was an 84(with the 33's) and the other was an 86. The ...

Re: 1911 question

Save your money or buy more magazines and ammo. I have had weapons with and without flared mag wells and the best thing you can do is practice loading and dropping mags. Practice and know your weapon it's way cheaper.

Re: RUSTY RUGER LCP.

Best bet is a better finish(like Duracoat) and maybe a holster that protects the gun better from moist(if such holster exist...) This is your best bet. I had my 1911 refinished a few years ago with a flat black teflon finsh. I have carried it dailey SOB without a holster since then, without even th...

Re: Pine Rosin Question

Pine sap is good for fire starting bioled down like you did it's good for a hot glue. Sap has lots of different applications depending on how it's processed. If you want to start fires with it pick it off the tree and keep it in a pill bottle or something. When you boiled it you boiled out the major...
