Re: Why The Glock 19?
I like my 19, for all the stated reasons, but when I got it I didn't realize it wouldn't have sa/da capability like my Taurus and Makarov do. IMO, a Glock with sa/da and a decocking safety (or just a decocker) would be about the perfect gun. As it is, I just have to remember to keep my finger off t...

Re: Big Ecoli outbreak
Could be wrong but my understanding is that Germany does use humanure on crops. Pretty illegal but things happen as all those waste water treatment plants want to get rid of the garbage they take out of the water. I think it´s interesting as the outbreak is close to an area called "Gülledreieck" wh...

Re: No Better Time for Farming and Gardening
So here is my gardening plan for 2011: https://img.skitch.com/20110224-rtht8abu6d1d9ndt553mc7gss7.jpg Hi, short update on my program. Finally night temperatures and being done with some other tasks (see pile of wood in the background) allowed me to pour some concrete and i installed my first three ...

Re: Fuel levels
As my country is small and i can reach every border within an hour ... stocking up for the BOV is not really necessary, a half full tank get´s me there and i do not think that there will be any open borders in tshtf case. So i stock fuel for my old trecker and keep it´s tank topped anytime. At least...

That's magnificent food storage porn, XtraBright! Two threads that're nice to have handy: Elkhill's Pest Prevention and Control and Mad Scientist's I've discovered a brilliant way not to store rice . Thanks ! After all my experience the only things i really need to worry about are moths. Cockroache...

Re: No Better Time for Farming and Gardening
Well, it would appear that there might be no better time than the present to get started on those gardening and farming projects I've been putting off learning all about. I've often figured on many things going wrong in life, and therefore I'm running pretty even between expectations and pleasant s...

Re: Food Storage Porn: Hot or Not. Show us pics!
A lot of nice pictures in this thread. As my pantry is well stocked but small i added another storagespace in the house to my preps by cutting away 2ft of my living room (26x26ft aka. 8x8m). The storage space will be "hidden in view" by a curtain and a motorized white wall (for a hd beamer) in front...

Re: What would your ideal PAW job be?
PAW has so many potential meanings but in most of them i really do not see a need for automation engineers  Honestly, looking back into my ancestors history i think of renting land for gardens to the peoples in the suburbs. Every meadow considered not worth the effort was rented to those th...

Re: Magnified optics on a fighting carbine: worst idea ever
Well, i have mounted a so called "Drückjagdglas" (sorry i can not find the right translation) which is intended for hog hunting in dense brush and has a red-dot and a variable zoom from 1x to 4x for "far" shots.
Works pretty well, also with both eyes open.

Unique but still practical ? AUG-Z .. the semi-automatic version of the assault rifle. https://img.skitch.com/20101125-7n38a34jtam29n4mgm1xkbmdw.jpg And even here in it´s birthplace there are only about 60 sold to the end-customer (according to IWOE .. austrias NRA). Like Squinty I started a response but then deleted it as I felt it was too personal. So I'm starting over again. I am glad that Meat-n-Taters said "Events" and not one single event that changed my life. For me it was a series of events that shaped my outlook on life for both good and bad. Let's sta...

Hi. Well .. EMP would be a killshot to society as would be a massive solarflare. But it only has a small chance to happen so putting prepping ressources into that specific disaster is not the wisest thing to do moneywise. Anyway. I do not know how you handle that but i am a regular buyer of computer...
