What is the situation in Uganda?

I have a relative who is heading to Uganda for a Catholic mission of some sort. She is in her 70s and is going with a couple other people. I still don't know much of the details but am meeting her to talk in May and she leaves in June/July. So has anyone here been to Uganda? How violent has it been ...

Need help starting a garden in SoCal

So what can I grow out here? The soil is mostly sand or very dry dirt.

The temps routinely reach 100 in the summer and get down to freezing in the winter.

I want to grow tomatoes 8)

I am willing to replace the soil also , the temperatures are the problem.

Thanks for all the info. And in regards to Molon Labes comments on Home Owners Association , I don't have one :D At the current time I don't own any firearms , though I plan on picking up a shotgun (I'm loving the FN SLP but need to get up to speed on CA laws) and a rifle (10/22 & M1A) in the next c...

Yeah , I am going to look around at like chain link fencing , 2x4s and plywood and see what I can come up with. Maybe have ports protected with chain fencing for more protection.

Instead of securing the glass, can you secure the interior doors to the room that the sliding doors open in on? No , the way the big sliding doors are set up , it screws over my whole house , except for bedrooms and the garage. I think I will just got with pre cut plywood and 2x4s ready if anything...

I just bought a house and it has a nine foot tall sliding glass door in the living room and the master bedroom , leading into the fenced backyard. I realize these will me major weak points to my home , because if anyone was not afraid of making noise they have two entry points wide enough to drive a...

I would guess a wet suit blasted by a fire extinguisher. I remember a mythbusters episode where they tried to beat IR and a wetsuit worked but after a few minutes it warmed up. It is what I would do if I had the time to do it before the aircraft got into range , but I doubt you would see it before i...

On the way to work , there is a car parked on the side of the street with a plywood spoiler. The first time I saw it I almost wrecked my car in a fit of laughter. It is a run down Ford Pinto with two wooden blocks supporting a 2x4.

Well CNN is reporting that he used an AK-47 and that he fired between 45-50 shots. 6 of the killed were employees , and 5 of them were female. It disgusts me when emo kids decide to go kill innocent people because they have a shitty life. As for the CCW , my local mall has no policy against it , and...

There is nothing in the suit that TSA could prohibit. They may search you some more but so what, just tell them you need it where you are going. I suppose you could even wear it on the plane, but these days they might arrest you for creating a panic or for looking strange, besides they are warm and...
