Re: Problem: Rear Doors Won't Open
Had an 87 or so, only two doors, but I know the seats flipped up and such. Any way yours do that to give you more capability to get the door panel further off?

Re: lunchtime MBO fail!
The only pre-fab shelter I had was a poncho and a cheap space blanket, however with the number of fallen tress we had around a lean-to wouldn't have been out of the realm of possibility. We each had 100' of 550 cord in our bags. Hers is hot pink, of course. We also each had a small to medium spool o...

What can I say, they're super warm and fuzzy fleece sweat pant type things! I remembered while I was out there why I stopped trusting the snow pants, though. The side zippers like to "pop" if under too much pressure and leave you completely exposed. Gets a wee bit drafty. Luckily you just hav...

Re: 2013/2014 ZS winter MBO chat thread.
Totally forgot about this, haven't been on ZS in a while. Went for a quick lunch hike with the kid that I threw in as an entry to keep things interesting, and a personally estimated 0.05% chance of winning. Hopefully I can get in for an overnighter as well, though not likely with as much snow ...

lunchtime MBO fail!
So I've been jonesing to get out and test the spec-ops recon ruck my wife let me pic out for Christmas, but I've been sort of procrastinating. Since this is the last weekend before the kids go back to school I finally decided to throw some stuff in the pack last night and head out with my oldest for...

Gerber Firecracker. On the right is mine, EDC for three or four years now. Started out looking identical to my wife's on the left, which lives in a drawer.

Re: Is there a 'show off your EDC bag' thread?
In the past I've used the dreaded CountyComm bail out bag, and their bail out bag XL. Smaller one in green, larger in tan. Never get funny looks with either, both are "messenger style". Larger one currently plays host to my 17" laptop and has a good bit of room otherwise, however lacking in cushioni...

You're in Colorado, right? Never had any funny looks with mine here, but in the springs we have a sizeable .mil and former mil continent. Results in boulder and similar environs will likely differ.

Re: 5.11 or LBT
5.11 reviews sure to seem to be hot or cold without much in between. :vmad: I think part of the problem is how what is used. Chill at a desk most of the time with short bursts of doing stuff? 5.11 is perfect. Do a lot of moving around/sweating/work? 5.11 is not a good option, unless you get in on t...

I cordially detest my Rush72 as a BOB or hiking bag, but love it for a kick around commuter pack. Can't beat the organization, but the suspension stinks on ice for me. I've many times wanted to sell it, but then 'd lose my current gear holder and would have to buy a roughneck bin to replace it. Righ...

...Okay, this thread is starting to creep me out. Yeah, I was kind of worried about that when I posted the question. I'm just looking into doing fun "could that take out a zombie" videos, nothing untoward. Might ought to just stick with coconuts then. It's less creepy to the uninitiated, cheaper th...

LOL, a measly $2.32 Maybe I'll swing by and pickup another couple freeze-dry meals, and then wait till next year. Dangit! I was thinking I got the lowest at $3.84 but you beat me! I will likely be getting something stupidly small. Possibly something for my kids like a keychain or some...

Did a similar test one year during the COZS wintergeddon I'm interested to see if you get similar results! Would be nice to know if bigger really is better as we decided, or if you're able to get great sparks with all of them. I think we used to attached stock strikers with each and didn't mix and m...

Re: !@#$% pos tacoma
Okay lets talk about your starter problem. Does it sometimes refuse to crank and just spin the starter, making a VWEEEEEE noise? If it does that, just beat on the starter with a hammer repeatedly until the Bendix spring frees up. That shit happens to all old starters. Also, having owned 2 tacomas f...

Lee, seriously check out your local craigslist. Last year I managed to pick up 2 old full rigid Specialized Hard Rocks for less than half of a new bike of similar quality. ($160 for both and a set of spare knobbies) All I've done is add bottle cages and they're pretty much perfect. I went through th...
