Sobering Reminder to be Prepared When Going into the woods

This Dad and two sons died over the weekend day hiking a part of the OT. They were not prepared for the incoming weather or the events that led to them having to stay the night out there. http://www.stltoday.com/news/local/illinois/anniversary-gift-turns-into-fatal-hike-for-father-two-sons/article_3...

Re: LOCKDOWN: Integrating Your Emergency Plans With Your Sch

I've wondered often why schools 'go on lockdown' when something happens in the area. Why aren't schools on lockdown all the time? How is it that someone can just walk right into a school with a weapon and enough ammo to kill that many?
There's got to be better security for our kids.

Re: What is the best camping hatchet?

Most of the time, you don't really need an ax. I can totally understand wanting one, but for camping you don't often need one. I carry a saw and a Mora. Safety is the number one concern. I've been drilling gun safety rules into her since she was 4, so by the time she was 5, I tho...

Re: Do you have a Severe Weather/Tornado Plan?

Great info. Should the ability to protect a damaged home/neighborhood after the storm from looters be part of the planning?
