You do not need a pelican case; a link to a simple PVC pipe cache that can work nicely. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GUogyKl4IYE&ab_channel=JohnRourke Note if you use this method condensation is also possible so be sure the water proof the contents. Also I suggest using a marine sealant like 3M 5...

Re: Money, money, money
OK, what about simply converting some of my money to foreign currency in the forum of cash? I've gone to US airports and changed USD to other currencies but that was for a short trip. What's a safe way to store it that isn't under my mattress? Safe deposit box? That is a possibility. Typically you ...

Re: When the police recommend you shelter in your basement, but you only have a crawlspace
Personally I am not big on hiding under homes either in a basement or crawl space. Houses are heavy and I would not want one on me. I would suggest something like this. Preferably in an out building enclosed discretely. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Survive-a-Storm-Shelters-Twister-Pod-4-ft-x-6-ft-Tor...

Re: Feels like it’s time to start stocking the caches...
If I can truly get $1/round for 5.56mm I think I may have to part with enough to at least pay for a lift and some new fancy-pants garage cabinets. Will ponder a bit this weekend. Remember it is not that the ammo may be worth $1/round but rather that the $3 loaf of bread is now a $12 loaf of bread. ...

Every store in which I have looked locally you had a choice of dick or bubble gum...and they were all out of bubble gum.
There was some 20 ga 7.5 & 9 shot but nothing else.

Looking back on this thread, it’s clear I misunderestimated the impact of a contested election. And especially the Orwellian deplatforming of anything and anyone not in agreement with the party line. I’ll stop there because that’s not the point of this entry. Anyone considering selling some of thei...

Hi all, One of the things that preppers advocate, is not putting all of your financial assets in any one currency, or all in US dollars. Now that I've accrued some savings, I'd like to open some accounts with banks outside of US control, that use or hold other currencies, specifically Euros and BPS...

Re: Preps for a Contested Election in November
That said the RE market in the area near my farm in rural MS has been booming even with new housing going up. I actually had someone (with a NY plate) drive down my driveway and offer to buy our place from my wife. She was neither pleased nor impressed with the intrusion. She also strongly suggeste...

Re: Preps for a Contested Election in November
I'm seeing a lot of noise about housing and land becoming buyer's markets in 2021. If that's the case, land prices should drop rather precipitously. Now, what that might mean in terms of real purchasing power after whatever level of inflation we see is a different question. That seems somewhat less...

I have no RV experience but I do have experience with PU trucks towing 5th wheel trailers with weights 7,500 lbs and up to "+ max +" (+ Max + = +P+). If you are doing anything other than a road trip in flat terrain you really should consider a HD 3/4 to 1 ton PU truck. If you are going uphill or to ...

Re: Coming Hyper Inflation
Crypto is already wild. Since December 20, 202 the action in XRP has been amazing.
The cryptos while more stable'ish have been doing very well. I am surprised that there is not an EFT that buys a pool of cryoto for trade.
BTW coinbase.com is a site that I use for cryoto.

Great story! Thanks for sharing. I have been to Mexico and know what you mean when you say a busy airport. That and I remember having breakfast in a hotel and getting a bill with what looked like a dollar in front and 4 digit cost and think Goodness I sure hope that is pesos and not U$D. Since it wa...

such things did happen with both british and americans for a while. That was not intended to be an attack on Brazil. It was simply an recounting some fun. I actually ran into the business visa issue in many places...which is why I make sure I always have the correct visa. I ran into this in most co...

Re: Surviving potentially hostile environments across Latin America
Thank you for the post. Do feel free to elaborate. BTW in prior life I spent a lot of time traveling to and from "colorful" 2nd & 3rd world nations on business, (i.e Nigeria, Azerbaijan, Brazil and of course Fourchon, LA, Aberdeen Scotland and Mosquito Creek, Trinadad to name a few). It would be int...

IMO:
That is exactly why the matter in the news includes the extra 3 "medical related deaths".
The desire is to drive people to cover.
My $.02 YMMV.

Word I'm getting right now is that the woman who was shot has died and was only 17 years old. I have a feeling students will be learning her name in school a century from now. The videos on the matter are being actively removed and suppressed at many sites. The woman's name has not been released an...

This is both graphic and NWS! This appears to be a video of the capitol homicide incident involving a lady. Note there is politics at this link. Ha! Speaking of the markets- the Dow didn't like it when the buildings were breached but the crypto markets certainly did. This may accelerate the flight from the US dollar. Nothing more than theater & drama (bread and circuses) for TV by the ... (omitted due to politics).
Lets just say appearances can be deceiving and leave it at that.
Compared to the DC riots in Jan 2017 it is a minor event.
My $.03 (note up $.01 due to likely USD devaluation).

Re: Rural property, but the locals don't want you there ...
We sold our rural property in Utah last summer. Our rural property in KS has just been sold. We got tired of our 'good neighbors' stealing everything not set in concrete, quite literally soon after each visit. You leave preps at a site unattended, count on them being gone - sooner or later. The boo...
