A good question. I think it's reasonable to say that it can be airborne, and there is a case that this did happen in book one. However it does not effect someone living as such. It is the bite that does not heal which kills the host through blood loss, then the zombification occurs.

I’d suggest you could probably get rid of a load of weight from your main bag. The stuff you need should be essentials, it’s not going to be cosy but it will keep you alive. Thanks for the welcome and you're right, I certainly do a lot of thinking about survival etc, which is one of the reasons I started blogging about the subject then released a companion book. I'll check out the fiction too!
