Safe Room Communications
Would love to get recommendations on systems / tech to recommend for communication in a safe room. Something that can reach the outside world, without needing to remember to grab your cell phone or worry about cell service. Ideally something dedicated within the safe room / panic room. Not so much t...

Re: Rice becoming less nutritious
The question in my mind is of turning this into something quantifiable.
Is this a question of rice losing 10, 20%, etc nutrition? Or are we talking about 1-2%. That makes all the difference.

Re: Survival of the Richest?
Yeah, I mean definitely the rich have a lot more resources when it comes to protection, not just focusing on big ticket risks, like leaving the planet. They basically can have whatever features they went to make their home into a castle, both from physical and digital threats. I know of individuals ...

Re: DIY Bug Spray for Mosquitoes and Ticks.Natural essential oil
I'm still interested by those fans you see people set up on Youtube that attract and kill thousands of mosquitoes with a simple metal net and optional rubbing alcohol. I just hate rubbing on oily bug spray and constantly playing defense. I'm curious if killing a thousand mosquitoes a day by having t...

Re: Robot Uprising - Or, what to do when AI Does All The Job
In short, I think people will have two main occupations if AI and robotics ever reaches some sort of "replace the humans" level of efficiency. Those are: 1) Decision Making. 2) Quality Control. Those are two really good points I hadn't though of. They tie in to the main overall concept that robots ...

Re: Murphy doors
I wouldn't use them for this application. From what I've seen they are more focused on the fun storage aspect, not so much secrecy or forced entry.
There's a company that builds them for a security application called Hidden Door Store

Re: Children's Toys in the EOTWAWKI.
I think the best type of toy would be something that can be built from the child's creativity. I mean this could be something like legos, but perhaps something even more creative. Like you could get a boy a toy building, or you could have the components for him to build his own makeshift little buil...

Re: Rural home invasion – barricade or run for it?
I don't think preemptive attack is smart. If you do that, it's guaranteed they will return fire. With being outnumbered so significantly, your chance of dieing is greater than 99% i'd say. On the other hand, if you don't attack them, there is no guarantee that they are looking to harm you. Even if t...
