Re: Ace wrap in the UK

That sounds rather like how Lucy used to be, fortunately it's no where near that bad at the moment. It's not a problem I expect to encounter -every- time, hah. hopefully rarely. But it's a lot more likely than, say, severe hemorrhaging, and I carry things for that, too :) Also, if she has a -really-...

Re: Heat, and How to Survive It

It's not as hot where I live as you, but I struggle badly in summer regardless. What helps me is basically cutting out hot food. Hot drinks too, but I don't really go in for those anyway. I also try to find ways to eat/drink cold things (cold as I can manage anyway, I have sensitive teeth :P). I ima...

Re: Food and Water estimates

Just a thought, everyone figures out how much food to store based on calories - how many people here eat a calorie controlled diet? Metabolisms vary, often more than you would think. Forgetting extra activity, lets say you decide to store 2000 kcal a day. If you have never before, in my opinion you ...

Re: Ace wrap in the UK

Well, that will teach me to assume :D

I just tried a UK (not sure where in the UK, mind) proxy, and while I didn't get your results exactly, I did get one of them on the first page. Have to try that next time I can't find something!

Re: Ace wrap in the UK

Those are indeed what I'm looking for. I get -very- different results when I search. I think amazon changes what it displays based on your account history? Amazon uk includes listings for items sold from America/to America from overseas - I would hazard a guess its showing those to you first because...

Re: Ace wrap in the UK

What you're looking for is a "compression" bandage. I tried searching for that - I didn't seem to get anywhere, mostly turned up cohesive bandages, kinesiology tape, elastic adhesive bandages and regular conforming bandages. I use K lite (https://m.spservices.co.uk/item/Brand_K-LiteConformingBandag...

How long can you store tap water without chlorinating? (UK)

where I live we lose water around twice a year, usually for less than 12 hours, I don't think it's ever been longer than 24, but I could be wrong. I'm planning on storing a couple of weeks worth of water in the garage, but I don't want to break open a big barrel twice a year and have to rechlorinate...

Ace wrap in the UK

So, over here I can find ace wrap on amazon - but they're around £10 each (I'd guess around $15 assuming rates are what I remember). I also can't seem to find any unbranded generic elastic bandages. We have something called a crepe bandage (maybe other countries do too, don't know) which are.. well,...

Re: Cold pack activating itself

Alright, so I feel a bit silly, but I have been unable to find any appropriately sized hard containers. I will try to remember to have a look next time I go to IKEA. Since the brand was mentioned, the packs I'm using are the koolpak compact. I've had a instant ice pack activate itself, was located i...

Re: Cold pack activating itself

I don't think its all that bad, it just seems like a hard case (which would have to be 3 x 15 x 15 cm-ish) would take up a lot more room than the cold pack itself. The things aren't all that uniform after all, and thats assuming I can find a case that fits it without being too generous. That said, n...

Re: Cold pack activating itself

I could do that if it ends up separate, but I think that would stop it fitting in the FAK itself, at least with how full it is.

Cold pack activating itself

So I went hiking with my wife recently, and took a first aid kit along (in a condor emt rip-away), which included one of those instant cold packs. Fortunately, I had no call to use it, as I opened up the kit to make some changes the other day to find it had gone off in the bag. It was pretty full, b...
