Re: How much land is needed to be self sufficent?

I think answering this question depends on the definition of "self sufficient." If we are talking completely self sufficient, as in - no electricity, no local/state/gov. laws or restrictions to deal with - and all for the purposes of sustaining myself and mine - then I'll need more than just farmabl...

Trapping for food and other things..

Hey all, Alright, I have no problem admitting that I'm a redneck at heart. I have no problem enjoying the outdoors, and I certainly don't have a problem learning new things that I know nothing about. I know a large amount about hunting rifle, pistol, and in some cases archery. Black powder I'm still...

Re: Does anyone here believe they can...

I am of the shared opinion that the outcome of a situation like this, for me, depends largely on what I'm "allowed" to do by circumstance. If the situation would let me get to a point and "settle down," as in, build a semi-permanent structure that largely shelters me from the elements, then yea, I t...

Re: My new ride..

Good laughs, guys. Thanks for the comments. As for the usage - I hunt and fish a lot, so I needed something to get me in and out of the woods and on/off boat ramps, so it will do nicely. Plus I'll be moving several times in the next few years and I want something that can haul my junk without having...

Re: anyone here use .38 revolvers?

My girl has a S&W airweight with the .38 and .357 cylinders. Before today (new law passed) she couldn't carry it in her car to work, so I carried it with the .38+P 5-shot in it for my EDC gun. My CZ P0-1 is a little big, so now I'll have to find something else. But the little snubby is a great weapo...

Revolver w/ interchangeable barrels?

Evenin' all, I was in the pawn shop (read: place where firearms are stupidly overpriced) and I saw a S&W heavy barreled revolver. It had a 3 1/2" barrel attached to it, and three longer barrels (I assume 4, 6, 9") with threads to screw them into the action block. I'm wondering a couple things.. 1) A...

Re: I have an uncle who is a black smith...

I second the warhammer. But a functional, modernish one.

I've always wanted a war-bat. Just like a real baseball bat, but thinner and shorter. Same taper down to the handle, but with studs/brads on the barrel. I just think that'd be awesome. Sort of like a straight bar on 'roids.

My new ride..

Well about a week ago I posted about having a problem with my VW - rolling noise and all that. After I got my commission, though, I picked up a great loan from my bank for the purposes of new auto procurement. As of today, I have a ride that'd do any ZS'er proud (until you hit the gas station. Then ...

Re: Anyother pilots here?

I'm in flight school for the Navy, if that counts. I just finished my FAA test yesterday (hooyah for passing!) - I should get my first hours tomorrow (friday). I'll be in a piper warrior for training, or one of the 172's. We don't know yet. I would LOVE to own a plane. I actually want to own a few a...

Re: 10/22 Tapco or other Stock as "practice battle carbine?"

train as you fight. the purpose of training is to develop familiarity with your weapon. while say a 22 upper could provide a way to train on stance and sight picture ( assuming same sights as your main rifle) it wont let you train in follow up shots, ballistic drop, or any ranged application. i wou...

Gunpowder storage?

Quick question for any of the handloaders or muzzleloaders - I need to know the proper/safe way to store gunpowder. Not smokeless or the substitutes, real, milled gunpowder. I know it stores for a freakishly long time, but I need to know the best way to do it. Sealed, air-tight container in a cool, ...

can we get more about the current car? front wheel drive? rear wheel? positrak? LSD? engine size? age? could be a ball joint, could be a CV axle (assuming front wheel drive)... could even be an unbalanced wheel. Sorry for the extended duration on the response. Civilian flight school sucks. Anyway -...

Minengr -

Thanks for those links. Got them bookmarked. Here's a tougher one for you - can you find the .223 actions that are not already attached to a rifle, and not AR-style?

.223 Barrels?

Hey guys, Quick question for anyone out there..I'm looking for a .223 barrel; a bull barrel, specifically. But I do NOT want the AR-15 variant. No upper receiver, none of that. Just a barrel. I can't seem to google one up, but I know they have to be out there. Can anyone help me out? Links are appre...

Think "villager on fire." Someone is going to draw the short straw and get toasty. At which time I will make a hasty escape. Other than that, I'm bogging down and speed-dialing MacGuyver.

If I had the time to get it, I'd definitely bug out with a compound bow and an assortment of arrows/broadheads. They are amazingly light weight, quiet, and have great hunting potential. btw - Ad'lan is the authority here, take his perspectives with more than just one grain. The only thing that would...

Orders to the helm, mate, I don't understand you. Along with everyone else who as articulately stated their points of view, I'll toss in mine. The idea of the PAW, to me, is an evolving one. Being in Florida I can tell you that some of us have come close to the PAW, personally. Being a hunter, I've ...

A new ride, and a problem with my old ride..

Hey all, As I have never actually bought my own car before (boos in the 3rd row), I need some advice. I need a truck (I'm a huge hunter, angler, boater) with cargo space, 4x4 capability, and decent fuel economy. Oh, and for a decent price. I don't need new. Right now my top choices are: Toyota Tacom...

Re: Motorcycles, Scooters and Fuel Costs

I'm actually in this boat right now. I got a loan from my bank for two purposes. I need an off-roadable truck and something to ease fuel costs. I have to drive about...oh, 18 or so miles every morning to work - and thats one-way. Not much compared to some, but if I do get my truck it'll start to eat...

Black Diamond Pack..

Hey guys.

I know I'm wandering out of temporary absence, but I'm in the process of a move. On to the point -

Black Diamond has a bag on sale at Steep and Cheap for 45 bucks. I'm wondering if this is a genuinely good deal? Anyone have experience with these?

Thunder Ranch .45....Revolver?!

Hey all, Just curious to see if anyone has checked out the American Handgunner article on the new S&W model 325? A 6-shooter .45, railed, compatible with moon clips? I have fallen in love. I'm wondering if anyone plans on getting one or has fired anything similar? I have a deep love for wheelguns an...
