Re: The rule "NO Politics" is just that a rule. Not a suggestion.

I’ve seen good adult conversation shut down because of this maladministered rule and i’m over it. How d...

Re: COVID-19 Chat Thread

Well China can’t have it all that bad as they just imposed an 80% tariff on $1.5 billion worth of Australian barley. It has effectively shut the door on a major local supplier. There is major global upheaval in the air.

Re: Couple of Recipes from EdsManifesto

Long time, no post. Any who, here are a few recopies from the FB/IG page "Ed's Manifesto". Some of you may recognize Ed from his appearance on Joe Rogan Experience. Been following Ed for a long time now and he's always got some good little tidbits about surviving in a less than ideal environment. h...

Re: lighters - a basic discussion

I have a number of 20yr old BIC lighters and they still work fine. I stored them in an old metal container in a fairly damp cellar and they did not appear to rust or seize. 20 years was a pretty good deal for 20c.

Re: The Current Great Extinction Event

This might make some of us rethink our survival strategies. Instead of hunting deer, we may be farming rats. Whatever works. But good point. I understand guinea pigs, cats, dogs, and rabbits are on the menu in other countries. Just some other considerations. Goats. The most consumed red meat animal...

Re: What did you today for your BOV/how did you prepare your BOV

I gave my faithful ‘03 3 litre TD dual cab hilux some new fanbelts, oil and filter change, fuel filter and air filter blow out.

I need to replace a broken grease nipple in the prop shaft and clean and lube the wheel bearings. All else is looking good *touch wood*.

Re: Full face respirators

Hi taipan, I reccommend using a respirator that has it’s exhalation valve directly in front of your mouth and the filter offset to the side/s. By doing this the condensation from your breath won’t fill your mask up with liquid as it condenses in the mask. If you use a respirator with the filter in f...

Re: hello from New South Wales, Australia

thanks all, Evan drought and water are my primary concerns. climate modelling for my region suggests a trend to high intensity spring and summer rain. the result of this means more runoff and possibly less groundwater recharge. i have a 500 litre steel water tank as a short term back up supply. i ne...
