Re: US Flu season in Full Swing - Update

Lists moderate for Missouri above, but it is in full swing and serious in my neck of the woods. What is most concerning is the effect the strain around here (a form of B) has had on people who are not elderly, children, or immunocompromised. Particularly with breathing issues. I had a friend in her...

His posts will be preserved as best as we are able. The pictures might be difficult to do since they aren't hosted here but the text will be saved and plans are currently in the works to try and gather all that we can into a special section of the forums that will likely be named the "MegaWoodWalke...

Re: Wonder Woman 1984

I still don't understand why they decided to make it a period piece. Would like this to be good, but have no idea how they are going to reintroduce Steve Trevor and not have it either go against what has been stated in previous movies or just utterly suck because he comes back just to die again. My ...

Re: The Mandalorian

I'm really picky on Star Wars stuff and haven't been enthused with either the prequels Lucas did or Episode 7 and 8 (more the directions they took the story than the acting or directing which made it extra frustrating). That being said, I really, really like the Mandalorian so far. Watched episodes ...

Re: Which is the better weapon Kukri or Katana?

NOOBS!! Go lochaber or go home! Twizzler-style, we were only given two options, the Lochaber not being one of them. But, if we are debating polearms for the sake of being funny, I'll choose a ko-naginata. I think it would be much less heavy and look way cooler for me to twirl around before my compl...

Re: Which is the better weapon Kukri or Katana?

Okay, I hate to say this as I love katanas and would do a lot of things to own a really good one. They are sexy, excellent examples of elegant craftmanship That being said, if I am specifically looking for use during a real end of the world Z-poc scenario and I could only choose between those two we...

Re: Bug Out Gear Deals (Post 'em when you find 'em) I

Can't get the link up, but the O-light store is offering two "free" offers this weekend for keychain flashlights. Was really pleased with the one I got on the last free gift they had. If you already have registered with them, you can get a small black keychain flashlight that has the ability to char...

Re: I only have one arm in the ZPAW

I have no idea how to answer, as while I am a very interested and knowledgable about other forms of weaponry, firearms are not my thing. Just posting that it is nice to see another one of your random, crazy scenario choice threads. They usually amuse me and it's been a while :D

Re: Modern Medieval Armored Combat

Hey, Blasphemous, thanks for posting about this! I had never heard of this before this thread. Watched some videos and, wow, impressive! My kids are now big fans as well and said, "Sports with swords and armor are better than ones with balls" I have to agree. Do you know if there are any group...

Re: Lentils

There are a ton of recipes for lentils. You can pretty much use them as you would any other type of bean. They make a good hummus instead of using chickpeas. The real key to using them, IMO, is to make sure you cook them to the desired consistency for what you are using them. For something like a ha...

Re: Flat pack bowl.

Even if they maybe aren't as useful for a BOB (although I could think of uses for them), at a minimum, I think these would be great for snacks on long car rides for kids. Or nice for a packing a picnic. I have a weird obsession with traditional picnic baskets and like to go on picnics with my kids a...

Re: What Did You Do Today To Prepare?

In between wrangling three small children, processed a bunch of veggies from the garden. Freezer is stocked with more green beans, tomatoes to make sauce with after harvest, ground cherries for jam later, and poblanos and jalapenos to go with green tomatoes in a pureed salsa verde. Dehydrated some b...

I too have a Bag of Holding as my EDC! I love it and find it is big enough for most of the things I would want and my schedule book for work, cell phone, umbrella, a book, and my tablet computer. Sometimes I can also stuff whatever crochet project I am working on in it if it isn't too big. My most r...

Re: What is your opinion on prepping?

I think it is difficult to respond to the question of this post based on the article without getting into politics, which is verboten on ZS. That being said, I will say that I think the article definitely seems skewed in ways to paint preppers as extremists whatever their political affiliation. I me...

Re: What have you bought lately? (Bug Out Version)

Bought a Leatherman Squirt because even though I have a larger Leatherman Rev in my EDC satchel/purse, I have a cross body wallet/clutch I carry for short trips or when I leave the office for lunch and wanted something small to go on that. Pretty pleased with it.

Yeah, I hate feeding the corporate Disney monster, but my husband and I will probably purchase the Disney streaming service because it includes Hulu+, we like cartoons, we have 3 kids, we're comic book and Star Wars geeks, and use Netflix and Hulu for our entertainment needs instead of cable. I have no clue what they think they could do with a story, as (spoilers) both Keanu Reeves and Carrie Anne Moss' characters die in the third one. I wasnt a fan of the way the trilogy ended, but this doesn't sound like a good idea at all. Ah, but if you will recall in the meeting with the Architect ...

Wow, that is kind of impressive. That being said, since he was eating essentially trash from a landfill and was in complete isolation (which research shows leads to not great things for humans mentally and physically) a part of me wonders if he didn't actually carve out an existence worse for himsel...

Re: The Boys

This Amazon Prime original series is the antidote to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Proof that absolute power corrupts absolutely. It is a movie about comic books so I am not so sure it is proof of anything. The writers do their absolute level best to make the "Superheroes"; Dickish, insane, murder...
