Re: My Grandfather's Gun (Story and Lots of Pics)

Well done. Verrry nice. Coming from a family that thought only the military should have firearms, I always envy the "heirloom" guns.

Re: SW99 / P99

I wear a Walther p99 1st pattern, 9mm in OD in a safariland paddle holster as my current carry/competing pistol. I think it is the most advanced handgun design existing. If it had Steyr style sights, it would be magnificent. Very slim for a double stack. I personally find that I needen't shift my gr...

Well, I don't know if this one has the super extractor, and I don't know who Col Shepherd is. I'll try and find out if it has the super extractor on it.

Re: Filled a Steyr-shaped hole in the collection.

Oh no doubt, I thought the Para was brilliant. A double stack .45 1911, oh hell yes! Brilliant, brilliant I say! What could possibly go wrong? Well there is the issue that Para springs suck wet farts out of dead pigeons. Really. Replace them all with Wolf springs. Mag springs too. ESPECIALLY mag spr...

Actually I was hoping Gelgoog would weigh in on the Steyr GB. We seem to share an affection for esoteric firearms, and I'm wondering what his take on it is.

Re: Filled a Steyr-shaped hole in the collection.

I feel odd talking about rifle ammo in a handgun post, but hey, I was the one who included it, so its good until a mod says so.

Yah, 6.5 Dutch, a weird round in an equally weird spring-loaded clip. I'm not really sure what having a long bullet like that does for performance.

Filled a Steyr-shaped hole in the collection.

It's been a good week :) Steyr GB http://x97.xanga.com/777e220062036275886276/m219844599.jpg I have been wanting one of these since the late '80s. 18 round mag (which unfortunately are like $200 a piece), textured polymer frame, decocker but no safety. These aren't really groundbreaking now of cours...

Re: FFL transfers

Right! I figure, so many people don't either A. have enough ammo, or B. shoot enough (a result of not having enough ammo). So I figure if you go in to your local gun shop, and "subscribe" to a particular round that the dealer can get in volume, thereby passing the savings on to the customer. But the...

Re: FFL transfers

I admit I'm biased towards the businessman's perspective, I have a hobby gun business. And the ONLY way that it works is to treat it like a business. I don't need it to make my living, but I do use my revenue stream from this to help support my own gun habit. Its sort of like the drug dealer busines...

Re: FFL transfers

When I originally went to the local gun shop and got a price from them for a Colt LE6920 they wanted about three hundred higher than a place I found online, and that's before tax. I asked them if they would try to compete with an online company and even told the manager that I would be willing to p...

Re: Another satisfied Kimber customer!

My personal experience, some people have good, some bad: I own a Custom TLE 2. I've carried it for self defense, and used it in a lot of matches. I put, on average, 2k rounds a month through that gun. I use Wilson mags. I've had exactly three malfunctions, all of them a result of my own faulty ammun...

Either 9mm, 10mm or .45. Any brand or my own manufacture, I don't get all moist over different types of ammunition.

Re: FFL transfers

Ok, 01FFL and hobby gun shop owner chiming in. I decided to open up a hobby gun biz after the local Sportsman's warehouse stopped doing transfers. Any gun shop that won't make money off a transfer, satisfy a customer, and can't make money on the accessories deserves to rot. Someone in here already f...

Re: The most powerful caliber you would ever consider for CC

I get torn between either my 10mm stainless Witness (I what can I say, I'm a big Miami Vice fan), or my brand new Para Ordnance P14 in .45 ACP. 16 rounds of 10mm is wonderful, but 14 rounds of .45 is also a beautiful thing. Yes, full size, two spare mags, I carry them every single day. In the office...

Re: Lets talk about S&W 59/910/59xx series

I am a great fan specifically of the M59. I own one and I'm looking at buying another. I've used it in IDPA for a long time, often getting looks from everyone else wondering what the hell I'm using. Kids. My M59 has a truly lovely trigger. It's comfortable, reliable and accurate. I let people unfami...

Anyone familiar with the Clansman PRC 349?

Typically, I think I may have more radio than I know what to do with, which is likely as I don't really know anything at all about radios. I don't know if it's legal to use, I'm not interested in breaking any laws. This isn't mine, but it's the exact setup I have. http://xfd.xanga.com/13be0647485342...

I'm a 01FFL. It's no big deal.

It certainly isn't worth buying a kit for. It's about as hard as getting your passport.

Re: OK, so how do we feel about shoulder holsters?

My very first concealed handgun was a shoulder holster carry, I used this for about 10 years. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3242/3033160743_0b3ae34db2_z.jpg?zz=1 And naturally, being a child of the 80's I went through my Galco/Miami Vice phase for my 10mm. I wear suits or sportcoats every day, so i...
