Re: Pistol Carbine for BOB

But you know Hiro, you have always wanted a .357 lever and revolver pair. This thread may have diverged slightly off topic, but this is wholly within the bounds of the original intent, a single calibre that plays double duty for sidearm and longarm. Admittedly some of my drivers were Magazine compa...

Re: How much is enough scope?

Its mostly about which of the features of a scope you are actually going to use. If you arent attempting to use the scope for ranging, or precise hold-overs a FFP is not required. Most people cant hold steady enough above 20x magnification, so this might not be required also. Same goes most of the o...

You wont be getting full power rounds out of such a short barrel, hence the fireballs.

It might be an idea to tune your loads if you are into reloading.

Re: Thoughts on .458 Win Mag?

Doesnt Kali have the .510 DTC? But it still comes down to having a serious use, if its just for fun and frolics there is no need to ask for internet opinions :) Big Calibres in my experience are either used for knocking over big things, or things very far away. I personally prefer things very far aw...

Re: Thoughts on .458 Win Mag?

You may find that a 50BMG or 338 Lapua Cannon more conducive to actually finding a use :) You'll probably find 458WM cost prohibitive to actually shoot :) I've a 338 on order that should arrive next month, but I still have a hankering to get a fifty. If you just want to launch big heavy slugs maybe ...

Re: Starting out

I'll list my response in the order I would buy them: Pistol: Sure a Glock is a dependable firearm, but my first recommendation would be to get to a range and try out as many different types as possible. My first day shooting pistols I tried out a Beretta 92F and a PPQ, I later bought my own PPQ and ...

Re: Pistol Carbine for BOB

Similarly: Beretta CX-4 in 9mm, with a short stock Beretta PX-4 SC Beretta Nano Redunduncy in magazines is pretty high, the only magazine that won't fit in a different gun would be the single stack in the Nano. Well here you only have 2 weapons that share magazines, in my example all 3 weapons shar...

Well since I started this whole conversation I've been back and forth in my head a few times, and Kriss finally decided to release the Vector in 9mm :) and in some funky colours too, the Alpine White is calling out to me! Re: What's your effective range?

The 300WM will get you to 2,000 + yards. a .22LR will get you to 2,000 yards..... depending your the environmental conditions 300WM goes Sub Sonic around 1200 yards, The trans-sonic region does horrific things to repeatability. I have a 300WM as well and that's going to be my precision rifle...the ...

Re: What's your effective range?

His plan is to burn out the barrel on the Tikka first, then think about a second long range rifle setup :) His plan may go south once he fires a 338 at range :) But his plan is sound, its more cost effective for him to start with the 300 Win Mag, once he is competent with reloads and long range to m...

Re: GET HOME, CAMP, BUGOUT SYSTEM. 3 Bags that work togethe

I've been thinking for a while about similar systems, ones that build off each other and compliment each other. But I'm not sure 3 separate bags is the correct approach, 3 systems sure. https://sits-pod14.demandware.net/dw/image/v2/AARQ_PRD/on/demandware.static/-/Sites-PRODUCT-BERGHAUS/default/dw57e...

Re: caliber to complement .223?

How are the guys with those handy wind gauges using them to gauge the wind 1000meters away? Or are you just measuring the wind at arms length and then eyeballing it way out there? Pretty much, once you have a local measurement you extrapolate based on environmental feedback. is the grass moving mor...

We seem to be steadily veering off topic :) Clarence what rifle do you have in 223? You asked for a suggestion for a rifle that matches. We should know the rifle so we can assess what the calibre options are. We can then add the limition of factory "match" ammunition. Throw in some barrier blind fac...

Of course I´ve accumulated a few AR-15´s over the years BOL is set up and so is a MAG. Stick a spare AR-15 at your BOL and grab the TRG on your way :) Getting a spare TRG for the BOL seems spendy :-P If I'm heading out the door with a long rifle I'll be grabbing my own TRG equivilent, but only beca...
