Re: Shooting what fits you vs commonality of parts & mags?

If it comes down to it, the reason for a defensive firearm is defensive action.

Pick what you're best with because you want every advantage.

Re: Sleep during Disaster/Crisis

Didn't watch the video yet... But one thing I picked up from traveling and being a nomad, when sleeping with gear, always have it strapped to you. For packs and bags, I always look the straps around my feet or arms, etc. Makes it tougher for the snatch and grab when you're nodding off. When I was in...

Re: Pandemic Apocalypse: To The Lake (Netflix)

Binged this, it’s REALLY good. I might watch it again just because it was interesting and not overly “make believe” and the team didn’t go full TWD which is nice. I finished it shortly after my first post. I agree about TWD and sadly it's what I compare most apocalypse genre media to. Basically, ar...

Who thinks I should build a custom 1911 over my dark Alaskan winter? Uhhh...is that a trick question? Cuz I'm all for you making cool guns and posting pics a d giving us shooting reports. Re: Treasure/time capsule for 8 years old boy

But if you do decide to secretly plant stuff, here's a running list of stuff I would like as a kid that could be used: -novelty gem stones in a jar. Fools gold or quartz or any of those souvenir rocks -old silverware or cup -old handtools -definitely jars of change -cheap pocket knives if he's old e...

Re: Treasure/time capsule for 8 years old boy

I think tins would be fun too. Then you could put a bunch of stuff in them. I would honestly make a treasure map with clues for him. Vague pictures and stuff. Think "red dead redemption 1 gold bar treasure map". Or maybe stuff like geocaching. Depending on his age, he might figure out stuff is plant...

Re: Dermabond not letting wounds weep a bad thing?

I'd be curious as to what setting you got your views on them? SNF? During clinical rotations in Burn care. But honestly I’m just kidding, Wound vacs definitely have their place in recovery. Happily I’m a caveman paramedic so I don’t have to worry about placing them. Ahhhh I can see that in burn car...

Re: No, really honey, last one...I promise: Aereus Lev

I hear the receiver/stock one piece combo from the WWSD rifle is supposed to be pretty light considering it eliminates multiple components.

Not sure if you added it in as weight to compare to your build, seems like a good budget way to go

Re: Dermabond not letting wounds weep a bad thing?

Unpopular opinion: Wound vac/drains are for Docs that are too lazy to do daily dressing changes. Just kidding, they have their place but can be overused by busy services. As always, just my opinion. I generally disagree. I can see how they can be over used, but in the acute setting, they are very n...

Looks like Jurassic World 3 is delayed till 2022. I'm not happy about it. There are a few short clips of Dino things I feel like I should throw on here: Battle at Big Rock, made by the Jurassic team as Canon and a teaser to the new movie. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=C7kbVvpOGdQ Jurassic Park Exodu...

Pandemic Apocalypse: To The Lake (Netflix)

Russian series on Netflix, dubbed and subtitles. To The Lake, currently 1 season. Story about some dysfunctional Moscow city folk trying to escape to the wilderness during a violent viral outbreak. Pretty darn good. It's dark and gritty. The characters are "real" as in generally smart but flawed. I ...

Re: Firearms CHAT: [insert chat title here]

I love that Ruger got Marlin.

I hope once they get up and running, some cool trapper models start coming out. I love me some 16" lever guns.

Having said that, I have 2 Remlins, and the quality is fine. Just don't know if they'll be worth swapping over to a Ruglin.

Bumping because it needs to be done.

It's getting dark and cold up here in the Arctic. Perfect time to start breaking out some good fiction next to my wood stove.

Re: JeeperCreeper bought a house

Finally got moved in. I'm exhausted. As far as backups, I have a wood stove. Talked with a patient today about solar actually, so might look into that or a generator. Also, the locks are a good idea. Luckily, we bought the house off a retired couple so I don't foresee a big rush as far as someone co...

JeeperCreeper bought a house

Well... With interest rates taking a dive, and with my and my wife's careers looking up, it was time to be an adult and stop renting. We bought a house. Pretty standard affair for Alaska "suburbs". Clean well water, new septic, little over an acre, big garage, 2 sheds, ranch home. Quiet and secluded...

Re: What's the best way to get to a 300BLK pistol today?

I'd probably just risk it with PSA's kit. They're the only one I can see that's in stock. Looks like you can still build a serviceable pistol for $600 or so. If you're using it in a car, I'd go 8" barrel. Also, check it Witt Machines sound mitigation system. Kinda like a pig nose with a pseudo baffl...
