Agreed on all points - as a member of the general public who lives entirely too close to the Shaw area, and works downtown. Thank you!

Re: Another Police Shooting in St. Louis Triggers New Protes

Do Park Rangers count? I'd be very happy to share my experiences related to this topic. ... For what it's worth, I swore an oath to protect the Constitution. And I'll die to uphold that oath. But that does not give people license to spit on us, or act belligerently towards us, as a matter of their ...

Re: Another Police Shooting in St. Louis Triggers New Protes

St. Louis schools are asking that the prosecutor release the grand jury decision in the evening or on the weekend, because of the difficulty riots could cause getting students home. http://www.stltoday.com/news/local/metro/school-officials-ask-mcculloch-to-release-ferguson-grand-jury-decision/articl...

Re: Another Police Shooting in St. Louis Triggers New Protes

I work in downtown St. Louis, near the government buildings, so appreciate any suggestions. I hope the prosecutor times the release of the grand jury decision well, and perhaps even leaks that timing. I'm confident my company would close, or tell us to work from home, if they have an idea of when th...

Re: Another Police Shooting in St. Louis Triggers New Protes

Protests are starting to spread out and away from Ferguson. They crossed the river last night into St. Charles county and were less than a block from my house around midnight last night. Saw a few cars that looked out of place driving down my street, possibly scoping out the area. New motion lights...

Seems there's been some shots fired. Any St. Louis person want to clarify? Probably unrelated to the protests, but fueling the fire. Two police officers were shot at last night. Re: Riots in St Louis?

Two police officers were shot at last night. One was a Ferguson officer at a break-in; he was wounded in the arm. The second was an off-duty non-Ferguson officer in his private car on a major highway; the shots missed but he was injured by broken glass. Tensions are really high. Yesterday the fairly...

More trouble tonight is probable: Police just raided the camp of @lostvoices14. Arrested one member, 19-yo Dasha, and confiscated their tents and possessions. Re: Riots in St Louis?

People who tried to put out the fire at the Brown shrine were tweeting about smelling gasoline, so I dunno. It's not like burning down a business is a proper response to someone lighting a shrine anyway, so I think you're quibbling about the wrong end of the story here. Whether someone tossed a bot...

Haven't heard Anything since thread went dark, riots still occurring? There are still nightly demonstrations, but they've been peaceful, with few marchers and no arrests. Mike Brown's funeral was today, and his father requested a day of calm, which so far is being respected. A march planned for thi...

Nick, Ferguson is not part of the City of Saint Louis, it's part of Saint Louis County. So the city web site isn't relevant.

Re: Riots in St Louis?

Re: Riots in St Louis?

Anyone in that area know if 911 response times have tanked? I would assume folks are pretty much on their own for emergency services during the busy times. Anecdotally, 911 response is bad in the immediate area. Even when access is open, EMTs want police support before going in. I haven't heard of ...
