Re: What AR stock are you running and why?

If I bought it, it's probably a CTR. Otherwise it's a MOE, or a CAR. I only buy a stock if I have a specific need to replace something, or if I'm out of stocks. I'm fine with the CAR.

Flawless, sub-moa fit and finish...all day long. now Free

I think we are interpreting the word "optimal" differently.

Re: Mk18 vs soocom 16 EBR

That has not been my experience. I have a bunch of mk262 and while it works on, for example, my 12.5, it seems to develop significantly more velocity with longer barrels. My belief is that it is optimized for a barrel 16-18 inches long. Given the existence of the mk12, and the relationship between t...

Re: Mk18 vs soocom 16 EBR

One point to consider... The M14 action is optimized for 147 grain bullets. A 16 inch barrel for .308 is going to be better suited for heavier bullets such as the 175 grain version; you barely gain any velocity per inch at those weights beyond 16". You can put 175 grain bullets through an M14, but i...

Re: I'd appreciate advice on what gun to buy next.

I'm not a canuck, but If memory serves me right, I've seen posts by other Canadians that had VZ58s with full capacity magazines, but I think when you buy one it comes pinned to the receiver. I could be wrong though. I'm afraid you are wrong. The VZ is a great carbine. If you have a lot of x39 on ha...

Foliage green double shingle behind grey ten speed double. This setup is very trim and gets even slimmer, inst...

Re: Endeavor Gear Cobra Gun Belt - discovered right here on

I have no idea but sadly although I am still wearing this belt every day, I have heard this a lot over the past year or so. I haven't dealt with Kary since I got this belt.

Too bad...good belts, but I think he burned a lot of people, first through disorganization, later through indifference.

Re: Kassnar @ Shot: Tavor approved by the ATF and due in 20

Not really a fan of bullpups myself but those are popular up here. They're certainly light, handy guns. None of the ones I've used have had feeding or extraction issues or anything. Downsides are the height over bore for any optic you mount, and off shoulder firing being limited to people with short...

Re: Making my mags drop free

I know the movies tell you otherwise but a tactical mag change in fact involves retaining the magazine and not dropping it on the floor. Are you talking about a "tactical reload", where you remove a mag that still has some rounds in it and replace it with a full mag, or are you talking about a spee...

Hard to say without knowing what you would usually pay for a 1911...but in North America a USP is cheaper than most quality 1911s, yes.

Re: Any GTO Core 15 Owners?

That is easily the most intelligent statement you have made in this thread. If you expanded it to "the only models we should buy are models built to a standard exactly equivalent to the Colt" then I would say congratulations...you appear to have made excellent progress. That still doesn't make any ...

Re: Any GTO Core 15 Owners?

Time testing will reach a certain plateau where no further reliability or enhancements can be made without a radical change. It will reach a certain point where we simply know the machine, how well it operates, and that's the way it is. Perfect. That's ideal for a survival rifle. No individual shou...

Re: Any GTO Core 15 Owners?

1) What's eluding you is that not everything has to be time tested. 2) So what you're saying is in order to prove your product is reliable, it has to be tested and used by the military? 3) Also, there can be build issues with any rifle, including colt. 1) not everything does, but all critical survi...

Re: Any GTO Core 15 Owners?

The HK415 is currently being trial used by the marines and other military branches. Anybody who wants to buy an HK piston gun for survival has my blessing. That HAS been thoroughly evaluated and while not perfect, it seems pretty good. Extending the success of the HK to include other, untested pist...

Re: Any GTO Core 15 Owners?

From my perspective the bottom line is very simple: For a rifle I will bet my life on, I want a proven, standardized operating system which will behave in a predictable manner. If a person wants a piston AR because they want to play around with it and see how it does, I would say go nuts. It's point...

They are issued to the Canadian border services agency. During the training phase for this gun, it performed so badly that the RCMP guys in charge of the training wrote in to the government to attempt to have the purchase cancelled. If you buy one, get a rubber mallet for fixing stoppages. This is n...

It's actually kinda funny. Everyone I know with an M&P has had no issues, same with XDM owners. I can think of two G19s that have had issues. None of them were my own guns. ETA: Both were Gen 4s I have seen issues with all of these guns, ranging from FTFs and FTEs to one total KB, not that that mea...

I am not arguing that a specific pistol is superior...I am arguing that if you switch to a superior pistol, you will have the same skill level, on a better gun.

Re: Springfield XD vs Glock 17 vs Smith and Wesson M&P

I often hear this argument. The trouble with it is that it presumes that the 5000 rounds you shoot are spent on retraining your grip and don't advance your overall skill by 5000 rounds of training. That is not the case. It just takes a few thousand rounds for a grip to feel like the new "normal". By...

Re: Springfield XD vs Glock 17 vs Smith and Wesson M&P

I would describe that as a training issue in 99.9% of cases. I have big hands myself (with permanent Glock tracks) and I have to train to a different grip on some guns. But that is a totally manageable issue PROVIDED you train for it. Naturally if you have a specific freak hand that is Beretta-inco...
